Snorkel life vests

We have our own snorkel gear, which we plan to bring along to Castaway Cay. We don't, however, have the life vests that Disney requires everyone to wear. Will we have to pay to use the life vests when we go snorkeling?

We bring our own gear too & Disney will provide vests to everyone at no charge to use while on the island. Happy cruising!

The snorkel vests are free. You can get them at Gils, and often from fence posts near the guard stations (by snorkel area.) You must wear one but you don't have to inflate it.

This answered my question that I was going to ask. I'd rather buy a Sam's or Costco kit that we keep for about the same price without worrying about sanitation.

My DH and sons want to snorkel, when ring their own equipment, are the snorkel/mask kits that you buy at Wal-Mart or Target sufficient, of do they have to be something more?

Also can a weak swimmer still snorkel with the vests inflated, my daughter would love to try, actually so would I, I can swim, but am not great at it.

My kids are good swimmers but still prefer to snorkel with a life vest on and then their snorkel vest. They make them wear the snorkel vest for the bright yellow color, but they do not have to be inflated. I have even seen people snorkel while laying across the floating mats with just heads and feet in the water.
