Sneaking around at dawn

So who is sneaking around between 4 & 5 a.m. stuffing flyers in doors on the 3rd floor of the buildings at OKW? Are they also checking for open room and car doors? Doesn't security see them? Are they CMs making a few extra $$?

Very creepy. Disappointing. They can't control guests behavior in the parks any longer now this?

This has been going on for YEARS at all Disney and Orlando hotels and many times these are credit card scams. I wish the resorts would stop this as they are trespassing.

Definitely not cast members as they could be fired for that.

This is some company that probably pays minimum wage workers to do this task.

I'd never really thought about it in that sort of depth, but you have to realize there are a hundred places to hide a car or scooter (more likely) temporarily and walk straight into the sides and backs of resorts like OKW and SSR. If you think about it, it's not that hard at all. Especially those two where there's an 18 hole championship gold course butting up to both of them.

Edit: Anybody willing to pay a parking fee or has an AP can access any of the monorail resorts. Anybody that got into DS can access SSR. Catch a bus from DS and go anywhere with a backpack. Maybe not at 2:00am but you're actually making that time up anyway because we really don't know probably. Take an Uber. See the world. Any attempt at making the Disney resorts "secure" by having those gates is doing nothing but setting up a false sense of security. But it looks good, doesn't it? Truth be known, I suspect it's more about controlling parking than it has anything to do with security.

See my edit I added above. You're exactly right. If Disney could secure 43 square miles and 200k guests everyday, there's an entirely new business model they could exploit that would make their books explode.

I'm missing something here. Anybody can walk into any resort at WDW and "wander the halls" anytime. Now you might get caught and have to explain why you're there, but I suspect that's a lot less likely than most would like to believe. Again, if people think the resorts are somehow some kind of special secure under the guise of "guard" shack with a 1x4 slat across the road with a motor on it, I'm afraid they have created the exact illusion they want you to see.

Yes, anyone can "wander" into ANY resort on wdw property. Guest are coming/arriving or leaving 24hours a day. A non guest would not stand out.
Guest come in late from a night out while others are getting up early to jog or get to the parks at rope drop. There is a flow of people all night . VERY few CM's are walking around after midnight.
The fliers normally from restaurants /shops close to wdw. These guys are in and out fast hard to catch.

I exactly know the 1 hour window. My husband heard something scratching at the door and was worried it was me not feeling well from my 2nd COVID vaccine - he checked on me in the bedroom but glanced at the door and saw it locked. Thought it was a critter but no flyer. I got up to go to the bathroom and get water and then the flyer was there. The events occured between 4 -5 a.m. - we have a 2 bed villa at OKW this time and took a break from his snoring (I know TMI).

I remember a time when the threat of a very expensive ticket being pulled was a real thing. Doesn't seem to matter nowadays. All sorts of egregious, outrageous behavior is tolerated now. We witnessed several young men jumping barriers in the garage at DS while multiple security officers told hem to go back and re-enter the line. Did they? No, the did not! They laughed and sauntered on by. Not CMs - Security, did nothing. Once again, a child ran under the railings right at the tracks at Space Mountain. The parents weren't there - a 15 year old (guessing) was watching 3 children - Did a CM say anything? - NO! Thankfully, the 15 year old got off her phone in time to grab the kid at the last minute before the little on ran onto the track but it was close. We've seen this happen more than once. last trip, it was at Slinky Dog. The mother did a true belly flop. Had one CM said anything to stop the kid from climbing up, over, on and under the railings, through the entire one hour line, it wouldn't have happened.

People falling down drunk. Had to laugh a Kona tonight, a woman had a shirt on that was smaller in every way than her bra - this was better than many we saw throughout the day at a family park. We witnessed people cutting lines, eating in line, not wearing masks at all. Adults and children crossing under roped off areas to play with things that were signed to be prohibited. CMs just stood there and watched.

The place is a mess.

Sorry if I seem flippant, but are you living under a rock? Welcome to 2021, a place where people no longer have manners and the rules are only applied to those who already follow them. But I like that you are still outraged. I just let it go over my head and try to focus on my family and things I can control since most of the rest of the world has taken a path far away from mine.

Yep, it really comes down to do I choose to be upset and let it ruin my day or trip or do I choose to let it go and enjoy my day or trip?

Of course, if it is something I can control that is different, but if it.is out of my control, why let it ruin my day?

I would expect that someone wanting to enter OKW by car would need a darn good reason in the middle of the night. The security guard is not just going to allow non-guests in for a looky-loo at 4:00 in the morning. You would need to be a resort guest to get past security at that time of the day. I would also expect security to stop anyone walking along the golf course paths in the middle of the night as there is no good reason for someone to be wandering the paths. Disney puts on a good front when it comes to security and making the guest feel protected, but what good is security if they are not able to stop scam artists from entering OKW in the middle of the night and stuffing menus under doors?
