Sneakers at Narcossee and Calif Grill if.....

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. It's a signature restaurant at a nice hotel. People should shower/change for dinner and not come straight in from 10hrs at MK. I've been in the lift up to CG with some families who smelled of stale sweat. Not what I want when I am just heading for a nice dinner.

1) I agree, fully.
2) This is one reason we don't patronize many signature eateries any longer.
3) In fact, we patronize ONLY five sit down eateries at WDW.
4) And, only two of them are owned by Disney.

SOAP BOX: If I am spending big bucks for a meal, I want great food, fantastic service, and wonderful atmosphere. I do not want to be surrounded by people dressed as ragbags.

Except for V&A, people can go directly from the parks to any WDW restaurant (Including those at the Swan, Dolphin, the Parks, or DD).
Why would those five have any fewer "ragbags" ?

We ate at nearly all Sig restaurants for our HM in May and both myself and my DH wore sneakers. I didn't wear tank tops on the days we had Sig. ressies but that's about it.

Couldn't disagree more! The biggest draws WDW signature restaurants have for me are that I DON'T have to dress up (and spend my very expensive park time traveling back and forth to do so)--and the fact that my children are WELCOME in such establishments. THAT is worth traveling across the country for...If I want the kinds of places you are describing--I can get that right here in Dallas.

Having said all that, we have the boys put on collared polo shirts for the nicer restaurants and DH and I will put on short sleeve button-downs. (But not every time. The first time we dined at Jiko we were in park-wear. The CMs at Jiko saw us looking at their menu (we were waiting to be seated at Boma) and they talked us in to coming in to Jiko. If they had no objection--we were happy to do so!

If I have a button-down blouse on and the lady at the next table is wearing a baseball cap, ponytail and t-shirt--I couldn't care less! I am there to enjoy my food and my family. I am so busy talking to my own family I rarely have time to notice others.

While I get what your saying, I have to say that I have noticed a direct correlation between people who can't be bothered to adhere to a dress code and their conduct at the table.

I have no issue with how folks dress for dinner, but I do have issue when I am spending a lot of money to eat at what is supposed to be a signature restaurant and having to sit next to people behaving badly. It takes away from my meal. I have personally sat next to folks who have belched loudly, cursed-a lot, loudly complained about the price, been horrible to the server, and let their children run amok. And each time blowing off the dress code (HARD) was the starting point for them.

Don't get me wrong- I am not saying you can put a suit on a monkey and turn him into James Bond, but if a restaurant issues a dress code and someone chooses to completely ignore it, it doesn't bode well for their behavior through the meal.

And I do want to say I am not talking about someone in clean sneakers, a nice pair of jeans and a polo shirt as blowing off the dress code. I am referring to cut-off sweats, an over-sized tank top, and a dirty baseball cap. :sad2:
