snake with a hand?

It's not ignorance. I can't say I blame the lady. I have a TREMENDOUS! fear of snakes. If I wake up in the middle of the night to find some mutant snake climbing my walls, you betcha I'd punch first and ask questions later. Seriously, this thing hasn't been seen before, how do I know it's not venomous and can and will fight back? It's not like she killed it and then burned it's remains, she killed it and then preserved it to give it to the scientists. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't they still be able to examine it's DNA?

i agree. at least she preserved it. i would have gotten rid of it. and the article said they would have to do an autopsy to find out what caused it, so wouldn't they have had to kill it anyway?
i dont know, i dont have a very scientific mind...
