It’s been many years since it’s been to DLR and I didn’t realize I needed a reservation now. I missed booking one for our dates… any tips for snagging a cancellation?

I know at WDW there’s usually decent availability that pops up in the days leading up to the dates, but not sure if that’s that as much the case for Trader Sam’s since it’s so small.

Keep checking! We just returned from Disneyland and we’re able to snag a cancellation for an evening time slot. At least six times or so came available over our three days in the parks with both afternoon and evening availability. Good luck!

I have set dining alerts from one of the free sites, but I haven't had any luck with Trader Sam's. However, once you are on site, you can join the wait list via the app. You need to be nearby - like on DLH property or close-by Downtown Disney - or it'll tell you that you're too far away to join the waitlist. You can also just go to the host stand and ask to be put on the waitlist. We did this a few weeks ago b/c I really wanted inside and the app was only letting parties >5 join the waitlist anyway. You give your cell number and get a text when a table is available. It was maybe a 90min wait that day, so this isn't a fast thing btw, so it's not a great option if people are hangry, unless you get lucky during a slow time.

You can also try a walk-up. I think you have to do it in person though. They were reserving the outdoor seating for walk-ups last time we were there. Also, if you just want one of the drinks, they have an outdoor bar at Tangaroa Terrace that sells most, if not all, of the Trader Sam's drinks. They aren't in special mugs though. They have some of the food too.

What are your dates?

This post literally reminded me that I still have one I need to cancel…

Thanks everyone for the replies! You’ve given us hope we can just keep checking for cancellations, especially during our trip.
