smoking and non smoking buildings in POR

hello everyone14 days and counting , i was thinking on sending in a room request, just because we wanted to see if we could get a room on AB rather than the mansions, does anyone know what building are non smoking as thats what i would prefer, i have read that 18 is but thats it. also could someone tell me on how to tip the cleaning staff (daily or at the end of the stay) we are not used to traveling and not sure on how that works ,any help in these matter is very appreciated. thanks fred

Hi Fred! I've never stayed at POR ( but I do adore POFQ), so I really don't know which buildings are non-smoking or smoking optional. Hopefully, someone else can help you with that.
As for tipping... I, personally, do not tip on the first morning. I wait to see how well my room is cleaned that first morning. Tipping prior to seeing the level of service is, to me, like tipping before I've been served my meal in a restaurant- not gonna happen!
If all the basics have been done and I am satisfied with the cleanliness of the room, then I leave $1 per person in an envelope with the housekeeper's name on it (they usually leave a little card) and a "thank you" note enclosed each day. That way, if the we have a different housekeeper, hopefully he/she will pass on the tip to the person to whom it was addressed. I'll continue to hope that's what happens, in any case.
If we get special little towel animals, then the tip goes up by a few bucks. (Actually, if the housekeeper is just nice to us when we see him/her in the hall, then the tip goes up... )
