Smokey Bones.......any good?

They are opening a Smokey Bones down the road and I was wondering if it was any good. We love BBQ (I miss NC ). You just don't get good BBQ here in NH.
How do they compare to Sonnys? Does anyone know?

We really enjoy this place. The kids both love it and we like the atmosphere. In an odd way, it reminds us of Disney. Not really any place specifically but I guess the theming makes us feel Disneyish for an hour or so. We haven't been in awhile but we will probably go in a few weeks when our in-laws are in town.

While we don't think it's quite as good as Sonny's, it's still pretty darn good. They have the typical ribs and chicken, plus they offer other items besides BBQ. Smokey Bones also has the TV's hanging from the ceiling and the sound box is on your table. You pick which TV you want to listen to. Our local Smokey Bones is only a year or so old and it's always, always packed.

We like it BETTER than Sonny's. The pulled pork, mashed potatoes, garlic bread and slaw is delicious! They have 2 barbecue sauces on the table to try. It is a LOT of food though. Go when very hungry.
The NC barbecue we have had is just "different". I was never sure that I liked it!

I love the food there and it reminds me of WL... Also, order the homemade donuts... YUM!!!

I'm a BBQ snob there is no good BBQ in New England.

Smokey Bones is better than nothing I guess. If you want the closest you can get to real BBQ, make the trip to Springfield, MA and find Chef Wayne's Big Mamou. He's from New Orleans and knows how to do it right! It's a hole in the wall, be prepared to wait and BYOB.

Been to SB once and expect to go real soon as I received a GC for my birthday. DD raves about their mashed potaotes. They are yummy. I'm guessing I had chicken or a steak - I don't remember . DH had the ribs and I forget if he had the St Louis or the KC style. Geez, I better get back there soon for another sampling.
