Headed down in a few days; solo trip! I go often, but on my last trip realized I was just getting too uncomfortably full eating a full adult meal. Does anyone have suggestions for good kids meals (Counter Service) or just "smaller" meals, or bigger snacks that could be a small meal?
I really like sampling alot of different foods, so I figure if I eat less each time, that means I can eat more often! (And that sounds like a good plan to me!👍🏻)

The kid's meal at Rancho Zocalo has decent size kids' meals, and I like the spaghetti kid's meal at Alien Pizza Planet. The spaghetti comes in a small container (laughable for an adult), but surprisingly quite enough!

It isn't a kids meal, but sometimes I will go an appetizer and side salad. Many location will have a protein as an appetizer.

Many places will let you order just the entree of you say "sandwich only" or something like that.

Corn dog (no side chips) from the Little Red wagon.

Skewers at Bengal Barbecue.

Round out with lots of snacks!! Beignets, churros, ice cream, seasonal treats, etc.

Agree Bengal BBQ is great for lighter eaters since the skewers are small. One meat and one veggie skewer would be a good sized meal for a small eater. Some of the smaller meals I got earlier this year that I think are all still on the menu

Pym's kid's breakfast
Edit: oops this was actually the adult breakfast, not the kids. But the portion was a nice size and not too huge

The plates at Carthay Circle Lounge are small and delicious!

I liked the firefly chips at Refreshment Corner and it's not too big a portion

I like and agree with many of these suggestions and do the same.) LKing, yes, I do often order kids meals and many of the other items people have mentioned (cheesy garlic pretzel bread, Bengal BBQ, Carthay small plates, etc). I used to like the kid plates at Rancho del Zocalo but I don't really know how they are since the menu changed. Troubador Tavern had a good kids breakfast.

I graze a lot on the days I don’t have table service reservations… these are some of the vegetarian options I usually hit.

Cheddar cheese stick (though I would imagine a standard corn dog also wouldn’t be that much extra filling) from Corn Dog Castle in DCA. I’ll give the bag of chips to a near by parent (ideally one that saw I was just handed the bag) that has kids.

Impossible Victory falafel from Shawarma place (or the breakfast version depending on the time of day) and will just not finish it all if it’s a little too big.

A single skewer (especially a vegetable one) from Bengal BBQ

Soup in a bread bowl (especially if you don’t eat the bread, just a LOT of extra carbs) from Royal Street Veranda.

Ronto-less garden wrap from Ronto Roasters (this is a must for me!)

You could also just get a baked potato from Troubadour Tavern

Jolly Holiday is great for small meals. You can just do a side of soup and bread stick or a salad. And order a dessert for later 😁

The quesabirria tacos at Cocina Cucamonga arent huge, but are delicious!

Oh my gosh, SO many wonderful ideas! You guys are awesome!
I will say, that garlic cheesy bread at Trubadore Tavern is delicious (I had it last time), and I will definitely have it again this trip. Now, I just need to decide what else to try based on all of the great ideas y'all have.
Since the portions are smaller, I'll try as many as I can! : )

The tropical hideaway has single bao buns…

Maybe just a hot dog?

The Coffee House at the DLH has some incredible smallish deli looking items

Bengal barbecue for skewers…
