Small World rehab

Going to be at the world 3/5-3/12 and I am hoping to see the reopening of Small World. They say the official opening date is 3/17 or 18. Has anyone heard something different or do you know about soft openings? Thanks in advance.

I haven't been able to find anything on Small World except Spring 2005. Where did you find the March date? We will be there April 3 through 8 and I was hoping it would be open.

No kidding. Spring 2005 is all i can find anywhere. I am REALLY wanting my girls to see this attraction since my mom went to Disneyland with her mom and saw it then

mouseplanet.com still says 3/18/05 but I don't know how much in the "know" they are.

The official WDW website, http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=ItsASmallWorldAttractionPage, says what you said -- "It's a Small World will not be operating May 2, 2004 until Spring 2005." Pretty vague!

I'm just wondering what kind of refurbishment they're doing other than fixing the dolls and repainting the entire interior.

I hope they fix the soundtrack, equalization and the speakers too. Some of them crackle like crazy and certain parts of the soundtrack are peaky and distorted.

We're going the same exact time, staying at ASM! Anyway, I was hoping to see It's a Small World, esp since I was there in June and it was being refurbished then...Unfortunately I read somewhere that it would reopen sometime late March/early April... but there's still hope- I'm with you!!!

They are re-doing a lot of the sets, it's a lot more than just repainting. In addition there is asbestos abatement going on, and in a building that size it takes a while. There should be an all-new audio and lighting system, and a new soundtrack too. I've heard rumors that they are considering using the original DL soundtrack from 1955.

As for soft openings, I wouldn't hold out too much hope, since the ride is not new, there's not much test-and-adjust necessary. Your best hope is that they just finish early and open it ahead of schedule. I bet next month there will be more reports about whether they are ahead of schedule.
