We will be in the area January 20-26 and had planned to do the parks 23-25 but small world closes on the 22nd. Is it worth hitting the parks either Sunday or Monday of MLK weekend to see it before it closes.

Back story we are WDW regulars but I am taking my father who hasn’t been to DL in 30+ years or WDW in 10 year at which point Small world was closed that trip as well. It was fav of my mother’s who just past and we are doing this trip partly as a recover trip for him. I just don’t know if braving the crowds is worth SW or not. He will be in a scooter and Sunday would be our 1st day dealing with the time difference as well.

I think Small World all done up is neat. Last year we did MLK weekend and many of the local pass holders were blocked out and crowds weren't that bad really. I felt the Tuesday after was busier than MLK weekend. Splurge on MaxPass for Sunday or Monday if it's too busy for you

Just to clarify in case you're not aware- IASW will still have a holiday overlay (the closure starting the 22nd is to remove this) so it will not be "regular" IASW anyway. I don't know if this matters to you or not.

IASW holiday is beautiful but I could see it being a bit of a surprise to encounter a holiday themed version in late January if you were expecting the traditional one.

Personally, I would do it, even though it would be on a holiday weekend and still with holiday decor. Why? Because it's the ride his beloved wife enjoyed. Tough or comforting, he will likely appreciate the chance to reminise (spell check will NOT tell me how to spell it right) about her and her favorite miniature cruise.

It was my Mama's favorite too. Because of that, our family has a 2-cruises-a-day minimum, and we remember Mom while waiting in line.

Yes I think I agree. And the holiday overlay is a bonus. I just didn’t want to overwhelm him if we could have less crazy days later in the week. I think we are gonna try to make it work.
