We are in the middle of potty training our DS 3. He is doing great but scared to death of the big potty.. He will sit on it but only with the little seat to put on top. I really don't want to drag this thing around. Are there toddler size toilets at the parks?

Not that I know of.

However, my DD4 also has to use that potty thing at home, but when we're away, she has no problems using the regular toilet. Maybe your DS will be the same way.

They have a neat little device that will be perfect for you. It is a fold-up insert toilet ring to make a big potty small. You can find them at any Baby store. I carried one with me in the Disney parks when DD was training. It is just like your potty insert you are using now at home, only it folds up to a quarter of its size. Folded it can easily fit in a diaper bag or back-pack.

We had a great potty seat that we carried. It was flat, not cushioned, and it folded in quarters, so it ended up at most an inch thick and maybe 5"x6" or something. Not at all obnoixious to carry. It got us through "big potty" fears and was especially grand when we camped and those latrines with the big holes down to the gook were really scary. We got it at toys-r-us, I think.

LOL: minniegi and i were posting at the same time.

In Disneyland there is a baby center at the end of main street where they have two toddler toilets. My son LOVES going in these and only these. It was really helpful when he was potty training. He's 3 also.

Yes, the baby centers I believe all have toddler potties. However they may be way to inconvient to get to at the needed time!!

I had a fold up potty seat to put on the big potty when I was training my son who had the same problem. I got it from the ONE STEP AHEAD catalog. It has a ziploc to put it in and folded down pretty well so it was easy to carry.

I just want to confirm that MGM is the only park with a toddler size toilet at the baby care center (at least in both September 2006 and January 2007 that was the case). What worked well for us is that we had taught DS to stand up to potty (standing on our feet for an extra lift), so all he needed the seat for is for pooping (sorry if this is TMI...but you might find it helpful) My DS is pretty much once per day kind of guy, so if he had pooped at the hotel before we left for the day we didn't need to use our potty seat, if he hadn't then we brought the fold-up kind with us to the parks in our bag. In two trips we only used the folding seat twice. My DS learned to use just the full size toilet when we were out and about here near home...no choice! But he did great and has been fine on the regular toilet since then....so I really wonder if we could have skipped the special seat altogether had we just given it a shot!

Best of luck!

Also, please bring some stickers or post it notes to put over the sensor of the automatic flush toilets because a wiggly toddler will make them flush and they are LOUD! It scares the bejeebers out of them.

We had the same issue with our daughter not wanting to sit on a public toilet. Our favorite portable potty seat is the Mommy's Helper Cushie traveler Potty Seat from the Right Start. It is a soft cushie seat that folds up and stores in this drawstring pouch. I carry it in our backpack for her to use on the airplane and at Disney. When we are home I just leave it in the car in case she needs it while we are out. I don't mind carrying it since it is so small, and I think it is much more sanitary for her to sit on than a public seat. I also put the toilet liners down first to keep her potty seat clean. Here is a link to view it. I believe it is only @12.99 too!

We have had it for 2 years now, and it still is like brand new. Very good quality!!!

I was told by a CM that there are toddler potties at the Babycenter at MK, but we didn't need them at the time, so I didn't check.

However, we have a foldable potty seat and those things ROCK! Last time, Julie pinched her butt on it ... but it was her own fault, she was trying to stand up on it being silly.

I also saw disposable liners that stick to the potty, but cover them enough so their hands don't touch the potty. I might bring that this time along since it will just be Julie and I ... and I won't have anyone to pass the bag along too.

I agree with the post its ... they are GREAT for the potty sensor. I slip one over, put the cover on, let Julie do her business ... and ten minutes later we're able to leave the bathroom. I swear we spend more time in the potty than we do on the rides.

I second this advice. My kids where so afraid of the magic eye. Try using a magnet/

I second the On The Go Potty. My DD won't go near the public toilets because she's afraid they'll flush. I tried the post-its trick, but she got scared in the past. With the On The Go Potty, you set it up on the floor so the child doesn't have to go on the big potty at all. My DD is great about using it for #1 when we are out. I've also been known to whip it out and let her go when she has to go "now" and we're nowhere near a bathroom. It's very tiny and light to carry.

I'm bringing a padded insert for the bathroom at the hotel. I thought we were going to have to bring her big potty chair because she refused to do #2on the big potty, but she just started doing it on her own. Whew!
