Small Party

We have a lot of friends in the Orlando area and want to host a small get-together (15 -20 people) when we are there in May. We don't want to do dinner, and we don't just want to sit at the pool bar. We currently have a deluxe room at the WL lodge, so we can probably just put something together in our room, but it will probably be pretty crowded. We have a cooler and are planning on getting deli trays and beverages at Goodings that afternoon.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Is there a picnic area maybe in FW? Or just some place with a table and some chairs around the lodge? It would be great to be outside somewhere. I would even be willing to pay for a small confernce-type room.

Also, can we hire a Disney photographer for the event? We would just need an hour or so.

I think that having twenty in your room is a bad idea for many reasons--Mostly twenty people make a lot of noise, and the people next to you will not appreciate it. I have a feeling security won't either. Also, one bathroom, twenty people drinking, 'nuff said.

OK, now on to your options...

The best would be to rent a conference room. You can't BYOB though. They will provide a bartender and cash bar...bartender is free if you spend "X" dollars on drinks. I don't recall what the "X" was. The food part is going to cost $$ though.

Next--can you hold it at someone's house from the area?

There aren't any picnic groves that you'd be able to use, and if the weather is bad, you've got a crimp in the plans.

WDW has an events planning deparment--I'd get in touch with them and see what they can do for you.

And yes, you can hire a photographer for the event, again, the events people will be able to help with this.

Thanks! And we are just going to stage out of our room. We plan to move down to the pool/beach as people arrive. We did this a couple of years ago in a room at the AS and it was OK. I was just looking for a better staging area. And, this won't be a late or rowdy party so we should bother the neighbors.

Can you tell me how to get in touch with an event planner?
