Hello! I would like to plan a trip with my DH and parents for 2008 staying at FW. This will be my first time camping at Disney World and only my second trip ever (stayed at Coronado Springs the first time). What would be the best time of year to beat the crowds? Thank you!!

Definitely stay away from Easter and Christmas! Personally, we also avoid summer. We hate the heat as well as the crowds. You don't mention children so you don't have to worry about sticking to times when they are out of school, which also happens to coincide with crowded times at WDW. :) Our favorite time to go is early December. The parks and resorts are all decked out with Christmas decorations. There is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Many campers in FW decorate their campsites. We think it's the best time of the year to be in FW.

If you go right after school starts (around august 20 for florida and after labor day for rest of the usa), you should hit a lull. I have also found, quite by accident, that the week before Christmas is not as full. I wouldn't go past Dec 23rd though. I hope this helps.

We would LOVE to go early in December, but with the kids in school we just can't do it. Not at their ages anyway. One day....

Our days of going in December may be numbered. Our granddaughter is only 16 months old right now, so we'll still be able to go in December for the time being. But when she get to a certain age, that will be out. Maybe we'll go during Thanksgiving week the way we did with her mother. It will be crowded but at least not hot like in the summer.

Remember that beating the crowds, and beating the crowds at FW are two different things. You'll want to book early for much of the year, especially during the time of year (October through the following Feb/March) that snowbirds come down and stay at FW for months. It can be hard to find a space if you don't book early.

Christmas is AMAZING at FW! I love to walk and look at the lights - there is one particular couple who have the most amazing displays, from Halloween to St. Patricks Day. They are on a corner, you can see them when you come in by bus, or walk, or take a wagon ride, etc. Halloween is pretty neat there, lots of campers decorate in a bit way. But FW to me has the best decorations of any of the resorts, because every year more campers (many of them long term) seem to get in on the decorating.

Jan's grandbaby is the CUTEST! I saw her in December and it's the happiest baby, I think everyone wanted to take her home. :)

LOL! Yeah, we thought Aunt Tracy was going to take off with her....hehe. She is our joy and the light of our lives! I finally got her photos uploaded on Picasa if you would like to see them. I'm hoping it's okay to post the links here. The first link includes some pictures from her first ever trip to WDW!

While it does have it's share of snowbirds, the late January/early February time seemed pretty low crowd...no big waits for restaurants, boat, etc...:thumbsup2
