Do you use mouthwash?
If yes….what do you use it for?

For Me…..I do not, and I can count on one hand how many times I’ve bought it in my life.
My mom also never bought it, which is probably why it’s not a part of my oral health routine.

*Inspiration for today’s poll is me walking down the mouthwash aisle and wondering how many people buy the mouthwash products - there’s so many of them.

Only use it when I have a cold. Sometimes just gargle with warm salt water.

I do use it but not faithfully - if I start getting canker sores I will use it daily then to help - but nightly no I’m bad about that and always have been - even thou I’ve always have some in my bathroom
We never had it as kids - but my parents didn’t care about teeth at all - their attitude was you didn’t need them

I use it everyday. 2 -3 times a day. Usually a minty Listerine. Sometimes a prescription, maybe once or twice a year for a week or so.

This. It’s just part of my regular routine. I use a whitening one; usually Crest Brilliant. It’s got peroxide instead of alcohol so it’s not so stingy. I swish before I brush instead of after - is that weird?

I use the Listerine sensitive kind. I remember the old days of alcohol Listerine that would just about kill you.

I use it before brushing too.....I was told (somewhere, sometime) it helps loosen any particles and then brushing gets them out

I used to buy it for DS as a child. The pediatric dentist recommended it for the extra fluoride, and for the years he wore braces.

For those who do use it, have you noticed an exponential increase in the price over the last year? Zoinks - it’s gone from $3 - $4 a bottle to closer to $7 for the kind I like. We’ve talked a lot about inflation in food costs but these little things creep up on you.

Twice a day - more if I am home more, ha! I definitely use it after brushing my teeth in the AM and just before bed in the PM. I am hyper aware of breath and breath smells, so I try and be fresh as much as possible. I carry gum at all times, too..

This is timely for me. I was using listerine for several years thinking I was really taking care of my teeth/gums and then I had a fairly deep cavity filled. I was experiencing a lot of pain with it afterwards and just could not get it to settle down. I complained about it several times when I saw the dentist and the second time she told me to discontinue using the listerine as it was too harsh and I needed to give the filling time to heal. I did stop although that tooth finally needed a root canal. That was well over a year ago and I have not started rinsing again and I keep forgetting to ask when I go in if I should. The focus at the time was the problem tooth, but I had the impression she wasn’t a fan of the listerine and I always forget to ask. I’m not even seeing the same dentist anymore. I have an appointment tomorrow and need to remember to ask.
