For those that don’t know, D23 is the official Disney fan club that you can join for free or pay to get the most benefits of the club. For those that don’t know much about D23, here ya go…..

Currently, D23 is 30% off and is a good time to join if you have desired to do that.
Now that you know about what D23 is and that it’s currently discounted, tell us today…..

Are you currently a member of D23?
Are you a free member or a gold member?
If not a member, have you been in the past or do want to be now or in the future?
(multiple choice)

*Please post your experiences with D23.
Have you enjoyed it? Is the gold membership worth the price?
What’s your favorite thing about D23?

For Me……I currently have the free membership and I would love to have the gold membership, but I’m not sure I’d get much out of it since I won’t be going to the convention. One day, once my DD22 is done with her doctorate program, I’d love for us to start attending Destination D23, but that won’t be for another 3 years. If you have a gold membership and don’t go the the convention and feel like I’d enjoy the gold membership without the convention, please tell me why - it may push me over the edge to finally become a gold member.

I don't really know why I'd want to sign up for this, but that could be because I don't understand what I'd get out of it. However, it's Disney and it's free- HOW CAN THAT BE???- so I might think about joining if I knew more about it.

I used to be a gold member.....went to a convention and a couple of events, but they are all too far away.
I did love the magazine. They were beautiful. I still have them all.
But we didn't get enough benefit out of the membership for the price, so dropped it.
Not interested in joining again.

I have the free membership but have never seen the value (for me) in upgrading to the paid. As it is, I don't really get anything out of the freebie and we've scaled way back on all things Disney.

I used to have a paid gold membership. I just have the free membership now. We were too far away to attend any D23 events. I did like getting the Disney Twenty-Three magazine in the mail, but now only a digital magazine is included with the gold membership, and you have to purchase a print issue if you want one of those. I don't think it would be worth it for me to upgrade to a gold membership again.

I have the free membership and see no value in the gold one because I'm too far away to go to any of the events.

I have/had a membership that was free. Not sure how or where I got it. No clue if it is still active. Never got anything from it. Don’t really understand what you get from a membership, other than going to the conventions.

I used to be a free member (and technically still am!) but now there is another option- a complimentary Gold monthly membership for Disney+ subscribers - check your Disney Plus Perks!
Thank you so so so much for posting about this - I didn't know this was a thing.
I did what you said and joined the gold membership for free. You don't get any goodies that go along with it, but that's ok. I do like the spirit jersey, but I need another spirit jersey like I need a hole in the head.
Thank you so much again!!!!! :smickey:

You are so welcome! It has only become a thing very recently (I just did this last week) - it definitely wasn't available until after the most recent D23 convention last month....

I think I had a free membership, or maybe a paid gold for a year. :confused3 I know I got a D23 magazine for a while but no longer. So maybe it was gold, can't imagine they'd send a magazine for free. If it was gold, I guess I did not find it worth the money.

II anyone is interested in the very best quality Disney magazine, it is Celebrations. https://celebrationspress.com/ It is quite expensive but the articles and photography is amazing and superb. It is not put out by Disney but I don't know how the publisher has the apparent access to what is in the magazine. It is really great. I had a subscription for a number of years but didn't find the time to do the reading and dropped it after about 5 years. It was somewhat less expensive back then.

@Micca, Ron, what was the name of that Disney 'club' years ago, the Mickey Gold Club or something like that? Great discounts, information, etc. It was free. Nice welcome kit also.

I just did likewise, thank you.

The Magic Kingdom Club! I still have some totes, a keychain and some other ephemera from the club. The membership price was nominal, something like $15.

Ahhh yes, the MKC. And yes, not free, but cheap, especially for the discounts and all. And I learned my new word of the day here today. :thumbsup2

That magazine looks very nice.
Is it pretty thin or have a decent amount of content?
It’s been a loooong time since I got a magazine subscription and I may consider this, because Katie will enjoy it too.

Great word - I had to look it up
