Reading “All the news that’s fit to print” is becoming less and less for people. At one time, someone in almost every home used to read the printed newspaper, but the price of newspapers today, and people getting their news other places, has changed that. I work with the public, and we have the daily local paper at our office for them to read. Patients always look forward to reading it, because they don’t get the paper at home anymore. So how about you……

Do you get a printed newspaper delivered to your home?
Do you buy a printed newspaper from somewhere like a grocery store or gas station?
How often do you read the printed newspaper?
(multiple choice)

*I know many read an online paper, but I’m keeping this poll for printed newspapers only. I’ll do a poll about online papers another time.

For Me…….We no longer get a local newspaper delivered to our home. When the sale papers left the Sunday paper and the price was raised a lot, was when I canceled it. I miss reading the Sunday paper and going through all the sale ads. When my DD20 was in HS, and on the softball team, I’d buy the paper when she was featured in it - she graduated in 2022 so i haven’t bought a paper since then.

I was a faithful daily paper reader and looked forward to it and hard been one my whole life as my father received the paper but when I moved my daily paper lied to me and charged me but never delivered a paper this went on for two weeks with me calling daily and then telling lies and I cancelled and received a refund and never purchased one again - I missed getting a paper but I thought at the time this is one reason why you are losing business and fact young people don’t want paper they want digital
I enjoyed the ads / and other features the paper offered not just the news and I did miss that

I do receive a local paper every week and do enjoy reading about local news and what’s going on - this is also digital and both the paper & digital are free !

I very occasionally buy one at the grocery store, but we haven't had newspaper delivery in years.

I used to subscribe to our local paper but it is a sad publication since Covid. I do read the New York Times or WSJ from the library at work a couple times a week. I’ll sometimes grab it and read during lunch.

Dad reads our local print newspaper daily. He also reads online the NY Times and gets it in print on Sunday. I don't read the paper much.

Used to skim through the newspaper at work, but that ended almost 20 years ago. Delivery probably stopped in the 70s.

My story is the same as yours, slo. We USED to get the paper daily and I read it most days. Then they raised the price and I got busier, so had less time to read it (also, with the advent of the internet, it seemed that I had seen most of the news elsewhere before it showed up in the paper.) We dropped back to just getting it Sundays, but there were fewer and fewer sale papers and they kept raising the price, till it was WELL above the price you'd pay at a newsstand. We decided to cancel the paper and decided we'd just buy at a newsstand if we wanted one... which we have done exactly zero times in the 10+ years that we've been without newspaper delivery.

I haven’t read a newspaper in at least five years. We used to get a paper delivered daily, then about 10 years ago I changed to just Fri-Sat-Sun. I only wanted the Sunday paper, but had to accept Fri and Sat to get it delivered.

After a while even most of the Sunday paper went unread so I cancelled everything.

We still get (almost) daily newspapers, but they come through the mail now instead of paper delivery. One is 6 days a week and the other is 2 days a week. DH reads the print version; I sometimes read the print but more likely to look at it online. I like the local school sports coverage.

I stopped home delivery of the local newspaper 35 years ago because we had a subscription at work. Actually, one of my job responsibilities for 25 years working overnight shift in the news department of a TV station was to drive to the newspaper about 1 am to pick up a copy of the "Final Edition". The TV stations I worked at were located in a part of town where the paper we got delivered was the "Street Edition" published at 8 pm. Only way to get a copy of the Final that was printed at Midnight was to go get it at the printing plant.

We stopped daily delivery 10 or so years ago and my workplace doesn’t get it anymore either. It’s rare now that I even glimpse a newspaper. If I’m ever in a waiting room that has one, I definitely read it. It’s kind of sad to see how insignificant the papers are now.

Once upon a time, we got three newspapers. One business, one big city and one local. Time went by dropped one, went to Sunday only, and kept the third. Then nothing but local. About 20 years ago , nothing.

Side note, DR office last week, They had Good Housekeeping. I used to look forward to the 3 or 4 magazines I got every month. That ended maybe 10 years ago. So I thought "oh, I'll look at this instead of phone". It was from 2020. Every magazine was years old.

We still have the newspaper delivered to our home every day. We like to do the puzzles. And the sale fliers and occasional coupons are nice, too. But it is starting to get pricey, so I'm not sure how much longer will pay for paper delivery.

I used to bring the newspaper to my office. My coworkers really enjoyed having the newspaper to read during their lunch.

I LOVE to read the actual newspaper but they kept raising the subscription cost - which I understand - BUT we kept having TERRIBLE delivery issues, so I finally had enough & cancelled.
