Recently, one of my grocery stores (Jewel/Osco for those that know that store chain) tore out an area in the produce section. Yesterday, when I was doing some shopping, I noticed how that area is being built into something, so I asked one of the construction workers what they were building, and he told me a Starbucks. I must have had a disappointed look on my face, because he said, “I hope I didn’t disappoint you.”. I told him, that I sorta was, because I was hoping it was going to be an area that sold hot foods and pizzas (another store has this and it’s great). I told the worker I did think this Starbucks is odd, because there’s a Starbucks across the parking lot - you can literally walk there. The worker said this is happening more and more - Starbucks going into grocery stores when a Starbucks is very near by. I started to think about it, and he’s right. Every Target around here has a Starbucks inside, and another Starbucks is a stone’s throw away. So, let’s talk about Starbucks in your grocery store…..

Do you have a Starbucks in your local grocery store?
Is that store a Target?
If you answered yes, is there another Starbucks a store’s throw away?
(m.c.)

For Me….I voted yes, because this Starbucks, that I mentioned above, will be completed sometime during August. As I said, I’m not excited about it - I was hoping for something having to do with food. Another local chain has an awesome hot food area and they make pizzas. So you can order your pizza, shop and then pick up your hot pizza on the way out - it’s great. I won’t be buying anything from this new Starbucks - I don’t buy Starbucks, and I don’t need to have a coffee from anywhere while I’m grocery shopping. I’m there to get my groceries and get out - it’s like I’m on a mission - LOL!

There are Starbucks in a lot of the grocery stores, including the one I use the most.
And there are Starbucks close to a lot of others.
I do not go to any of them.
The only time I go to Starbucks is in an airport or at a Disney park

I agree hot foods would be a better choice ymmv
No I don’t purchase coffee unless on vacation as the saying goes I have coffee at home / 100% of the time when I’m out I have a drink usually water with me
My store I shop at with a Starbucks is Target abd I make it my rule NOT to go inside as it’s 💰💰💰 I do pick up but they now will bring you Starbucks to your car 🚗 but I ignore that !!!

The only issue that I have with Starbucks within grocery stores is that they are what I call Starbucks in Name Only, because their participation in the Starbucks loyalty program is only partial. Yes, you will get points for a order that you purchase, but not the bonuses that come from ordering a specific item. For example, a current bonus that I have is purchase 4 black ice teas over a specific period and get a bonus of 100 points. Now you get the points at the grocery store Starbucks, but not the bonus for purchasing the black ice tea.

I drive a little farther to a less expensive grocery store which does not have a Starbucks (so there's no starbucks in the grocery store I frequent most), but there is a Starbucks in my nearest grocery store... and a starbucks in an outbuilding in the parking lot of that grocery store. And there's another store across the street that also has a Starbucks inside. (So that's 3 starbucks locations within about 1/4 mile!)

-- Meijer (store I shop at most often) -- no in-store Starbucks. There is a freestanding starbucks nearby, but not in the same complex.
-- Kroger (closest store) -- has a Starbucks and also a Starbucks in the outbuilding in the parking lot.
-- Giant Eagle (across the street from Kroger and the freestanding Starbucks) -- also has an in-store Starbucks).
-- Nearest Target -- also has an in-Store starbucks but doesn't have a free-standing Starbucks particularly close.

We've only gotten things at the in-grocery Starbucks a couple of times. It's been when the stand-alone Starbucks was out of stock on our favorite. The one in the grocery store is never busy. I wonder how profitable they are?

My neighborhood Target is a smaller scale urban location with limited selection and no Starbucks. But a Starbucks is across the street.

The supermarket I frequent most often doesn’t have a Starbucks either.

There are about 7 or 8 coffee shops within walking distance from my house.

Meijer is my local grocery store, and I don't know of any with a Starbucks in the store. One of them has a standalone Starbucks in front of it. The closest Target to me also has one. I don't think I've ever bought a coffee for shopping there.

I shop at Publix. There is a Starbucks store on the perimeter of the parking lot but no Starbucks inside the store.

My nearest Target has one in the store. It is located at a major intersection and there is a Starbucks store in the plaza diagonally across the intersection from Target.

I don’t drink coffee.

My grocery store used to have a Peets, and while they still sell Peets coffee, the actual Peets closed. They just sell Peets plain coffee now, none of the specialty coffee drinks. They just have a coffee thermos out. Yes, there is a Starbucks in the same shopping center as my grocery store, AND there is a Starbucks in the Safeway across the street, AND a Starbucks 9/10's of a mile south, AND a Starbucks 1.9 miles to the north.
We used to be Peets fans, but since Dutch Bros opened in our area, they are our go to coffee place. Not a Starbucks fan.
The Starbucks in my grocery store shopping center parking lot has been the subject of a lot of rumors that it will be closing. It is the oldest in the area, and does not have a drive thru, and there is no way to add one. Apparently Starbucks wants drive thrus at all their locations now. They do a booming business though, especially Sunday mornings because the owner of the shopping center allows classic car owners to gather for "Cars and Coffee from 7 to 10 am. Having 200 classic cars, their owners, and spectators there reportedly makes Sunday morning their busiest time of the week, and they sell thousands of dollars of coffee in those 3 hours.

Our Safeway, Harris Teeter & Targets have them. I'll get them on occasion, however I don't stop there specifically for it and I don't always get one.

I never go to Starbucks, but there's been one in the large Kroger near us for a several years. Target has also had it for many years now too.

I shop at Kroger, and there has been a Starbucks in there for years. They just remodeled it to give it more room. We don’t have a stand alone close by, so it does get busy.

I have never purchased coffee for when I’m shopping, but I have taken dd there for her dragon drink or lemonade.

The grocery store I go to most often used to have a Starbucks, but it closed during the pandemic and hasn't ever reopened. There is, however, a separate Starbucks location just across the parking lot from the grocery. The Target I visit does have a Starbucks.

Our main store does not have in-store Starbucks, but there's one a stone's throw away. Our other two stores do have Starbucks but I only ever buy packaged whole bean coffee from them. No need to carry a hot (or cold) drink while buying groceries.

The Safeway stores here have Starbucks kiosks. I’ve never once bought anything at one of them and I doubt I ever will.

We have a Starbucks at our local Kroger store, and a regular one 5 minutes away. I also don't drink coffee while getting groceries, I want to get my groceries and other errands done and head home. I only drink coffee at home or work.

My local grocery store, HyVee, does have a Starbucks. As does the local Target. I do not buy coffee when shopping - I am far too uncoordinated for that. And, Starbucks sucks, IMO. Give me Caribou or nothing. And, we have 2 Starbucks standalones within a mile of these stores.

I do not have a “regular” grocery store anymore—but use a combination of Costco, Sam’s, Giant Eagle, Target and Aldi depending on what I need and where else I am going any particular day. Both Target and Giant Eagle have Starbucks inside. The target is in a mall which also has a Starbucks. I am not a Starbucks fan so rarely purchase coffee there. I do like their lattes, but that is an occasional treat.

Our stores have cup holders built into the carts!
