I only use cash if there is absolutely no other option or there are exorbitant fees with credit/debit purchases and it's something more petty...like concession stands or entry to school/travel sporting events. Even then, I may just pay the fee for the convenience since I may be traveling someplace where I'd get hit with an ATM fee and don't want the hassle of trying to get it back from the bank. There's also the safety aspect. It's just ridiculously unsafe to be carrying cash beyond a petty emergency amount. It's why I hate having to go to ATMs and worry about anyone that gets paid directly in cash...i.e. depending on where you live, the odds of you being followed and robbed increase significantly.
and it took some time, too much time. She then handed me my change and put the amount of my hotel bill in to a small bank bag. After supervisor approval of process it was all taken back to the back room.
