I only use cash if there is absolutely no other option or there are exorbitant fees with credit/debit purchases and it's something more petty...like concession stands or entry to school/travel sporting events. Even then, I may just pay the fee for the convenience since I may be traveling someplace where I'd get hit with an ATM fee and don't want the hassle of trying to get it back from the bank. There's also the safety aspect. It's just ridiculously unsafe to be carrying cash beyond a petty emergency amount. It's why I hate having to go to ATMs and worry about anyone that gets paid directly in cash...i.e. depending on where you live, the odds of you being followed and robbed increase significantly.

I don't even carry a wallet or purse - just my phone case with cards.
I only use debit or credit card.

I never use cash because I want to, only because I have to.

I prefer to get credit card rewards for every purchase and find that credit card purchases are quicker.

On a recent trip to New Orleans I was happy to have cash as several places we visited were cash only. The only reason I happened to have cash on me was we planned to visit the casino at some point on the trip and I didn't know which day so I brought the gambling money with me everyday.

I can only assume all the beignet places are money laundering places for the Creole Mob.

Otherwise I typically can go many, many months without a cash transaction.

Last year did a cash only trip to WDW. Like hard cash. I've done this a few times, live with what is in my wallet no more. More of a challenge/game for me rather than need. I arrived at AllStar Sports with my wad of cash to pay for my room (deposit had been paid with my debit card). WOAH did I send them for a loop.

NO cash is at the counter so the CM checking me in had to get a supervisor that approved them to go get a cash drawer from the back. Then they had to pull out the cash equivalent of my cash but in small bills/change in order to give me change. They then put my cash in the drawer so no change in it's count. She then had to figure out how much change to give to me .................. she was younger but counting out money was def not something they were used to doing and it took some time, too much time. She then handed me my change and put the amount of my hotel bill in to a small bank bag. After supervisor approval of process it was all taken back to the back room.

Was easier to use cash within the parks but still not fluid transactions when it came to counting change.

I still do cash transactions as I like to challenge us (2) to eat for $25 total for meals.

Use a credit card for most things. Cash for tips when traveling sometimes, local sidewalk musicians, paid my neighbor Girl Scout cash for cookies (but 2 places I bought from Girl Scout booths they took cards, which was good because I don't normally carry cash when out walking). I always take a few hundred dollars when traveling for emergency situations.

This gets asked every so often. I pay cash for smaller purchases and use my credit card for large amounts. I stopped using my debit card for anything but the ATM machine since it appears they are more easily hacked. Had an issue a couple of years ago where my bank indicated my debit card was 'compromised' and issued me a new one. They were vague on the details but clearly made it sound like debit cards are not as secure as credit cards, so I no longer use it to make purchases.

I voted "Pay cash so seldom I can't answer yes." DW is a firm believer on carrying some cash "for emergencies." I rarely go anywhere without her so she's my backup.

I always load up a Disney gift card for all my spending on a trip (not the hotel though). I challenge myself to come home with some left on it. I usually don't though!

I use cash when purchasing items at foreign cruise ports, taxi services, casino/bingo play and tipping the employees on a cruise above the conventional gratuities.

I also give cash tips to my Kroger delivery driver if it's warranted.

I always have cash in my purse, and use it for small purchases often. We do use the credit card often too, for the points (love the free stays at Hilton hotels) and just pay it off monthly. We don’t use it for small purchases very often, except for restaurants where we order on the app.

It's not that they are less secure, it is that the consequences of a comprise are potentially more severe.

If your credit card is compromised and you don't notice it until your statement drops 30 days later, you call the credit card issuer and tell them, all the fraudulent charges are removed and you are done. Your money was never at risk.

If your debit card is compromised your checking account could be drained causing one or more bill payments to bounce. Now you have to not only call your bank to get the money back into your checking/savings account, but you also have to contact your creditors that saw a bounced payment. They may be forgiving, they may treat it like a missed payment and ding your credit for years to come. Your money was at risk. You are making multiple phone calls and spending more time than just calling your credit card company.

I only recommend people use a debit card if they have trouble spending their money more than once if they use a credit card. Otherwise the risk is too great, in my opinion.

I almost never have cash. I used to take out a few $20’s every time I got paid, but it’s amazing how quickly my kids needed a $20 for something and that money disappeared if I have cash. Now, I keep a few dollars in case it’s really needed but really need it. Even the vending machines at work take card or Apple Pay now.

I pay most of my bills and purchases via credit card or Zelle.
I don’t like the limitations of using debit cards so rarely use them.
One of my constant annual needs for cash has been replaced by Zelle and thank goodness for that.
I recently noticed I’ve cash on hand (leftover from the December holidays) and was surprised to find it; it’ll probably take me months to spend it.

I always keep some cash on me, but rarely use it. Usually just for small dollar purchases or the occasional place that is cash only.

I've considered starting to pay cash more for places like restaurants when they're charging the fees, but haven't done so yet, except for a few places where it's cheap (like a diner).

The last time I carried physical bills was when I was in Japan lol. I never pay with cash at home. I always pay with a credit card or services like Zelle and Cashapp.

I voted, Yes I still use cash occasionally. For most purchases though I want to earn rewards so the CC is used!
I like having some cash in my wallet. If I want a coffee or Diet Coke while out doing my errands, I'll pay cash. During the summer, our local beer gardens only take cash. I use cash at the local outdoor market too. I like paying cash for tips, also!

I did do the ritual of the gathering of gift cards for the last two trips. The reward with cash left on them was a stop at the outlet store on our way home to "use them up". That way I didn't have to keep track of them.

I will pay in cash if 1) it's not expensive (<$20) and if I'm dealing with a real person (if it's a self-checkout situtaion, I'm not going to feed cash into the machine, I'll just use my card.) I usually also try to tip in cash when I can.

I wasn't sure what to pick in the option choices.

I pay certain trades in cash and I always tip in cash. I usually have a stack of bills on me for those reasons. Several businesses around town have also started charging less for paying cash vs a using a credit card.
