Barney the dinosaur…..so many opinions about Barney.
Some love him and some want to punch him :lmao:
So I ask….

What is your opinion on Barney?
Did you have kids or grandkids that watched him?
Do you have kids or grandkids that watch him now?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I fully admit that I always loved
Barney. My DD25 loved him when she was little 💜. She watched Barney all the time, we listened to Barney CDs in the car and we had almost every Barney book. Because she loved him so much, it made me love him. I always felt the Barney messages were positive and taught good lessons to children. I can still sing Barney songs word for word - they are imbedded in my brain for life - LOL!
I look forward to sharing Barney with my grandchildren one day.

I kinda feel the same way as you. My kids are mid 20s now and we were a big Barney household.

Yes me and dh can sing all the songs. Whenever we have to buy apples and bananas I think of that one song. Oh and if we buy pumpernickel bread cue you the song about the different breads - lol.

No opinion from me. I'm aware of him. I think he came around after that sge for Vince and Natalie, ages 46 and 43 now. I think more Sesame Street for them. And I don't recall the grandkids watching him.

The kids have long outgrown Barney, BUT, I've been in this Barney game since my oldest son, 33, watched from the get-go in the early 90s. Still have a birthday picture with him getting his first plush barney, he had it with him all the time. We loved the songs.
For DD, 19. I bought about a dozen old Barney VHS tapes off Ebay for her, and she got into it. I think DS, 16 , watched it too, but can't remember, but not nearly as much as the older 2.

I fully admit we were THOSE people..pre-kid "oh there is no way OUR kids would ever watch something so obnoxious."
Fast forward to when we had kids, and while they didn't have much interest in Barney, they did enjoy some other obnoxious shows.
So we ate our words for sure!
No grandkids, so can't say what they would or would not enjoy watching.
Now our dogs LOVE The Monty Don channel

Barney was big when my DS was very young; of course we watched him. It was no better or worse than any of the other toddler-type stuff. I do remember that we had a little Barney bed-time storybook that was our regular routine for a couple of years. All this time later, I still remember some of it by heart “Guess what time it is - I know you’ll guess it soon. The sun is going off to sleep, here comes the shining moon...” :goodvibes Good memories!

If All the rain drops are lemon drops and gum drops oh what a world it would be. ..lol

My niece loved Barney even went to see Barney on stage in Toronto when she was 4 .

My son also watch when little and my sister got him a talking Barney that worked with the computer for his birthday.

Personally me can’t stand Barney with that being said my youngest LOVED Barney so we made a trip to Universal Studios back in the 90s when my youngest was three and they used to have a Barney show and we went to it and OMG the audience was like a cult with all of them singing and swaying and me my husband at the time and my oldest child are standing there looking at these people like they have lost their minds you would’ve thought they were in church standing before God it was creepy
Not for me but I did it because my youngest loved Barney so much

I watched my sister's kids while she worked because I worked from home and could keep an eye on them while I was at my drawing board. My nephew, who's now heading into his mid-thirties, *loved* Barney. Barney himself was okay, but those kids-!

I do have a grownup Barney story, though. My sister and I went on our first Sisters Trip to WDW in 1994. We had just checked into the Polynesian after 24 hours on a train from Philly, so we needed showers. I went first. When I came out, I found my sister in tears watching Barney on the TV. It was this:

The Sister Song, hahahaha. She got all mushy on me.

My sister and I are too old to have watched it ourselves and we don’t have kids so we weren’t exposed to him that way either. I don’t really have an opinion. We were more Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers kids.

Never saw the show and I don’t think my grandchildren watched it either.
