eBay was founded in 1995 - it’s hard to believe that eBay has been around that long now. For those that don’t know, eBay is a global online marketplace that allows users to buy and sell a wide variety of products and services. Some of us use eBay a lot, while some of us may never have used it. So share with us today……

Do you use eBay?
If yes…… do you buy or sell on eBay?
If you buy….. do you participate in the auctions or just buy things without an auction?
(multiple-choice)

For Me…..I have bought several things in the past, but never did an auction until this last purchase. The seller wanted $16.99 for this shirt…..

And I bid $9.99 for it. I ended up winning, which was very exciting. This seller does charge for shipping so when the shipping was added, it ended up being $16.99, which is fine, because brand new this shirt was $34.99. I’ve been wanting this shirt for over a year, and last week I went on the website that sells it, to finally buy it, and it was gone. I immediately went to eBay and there it was. Buying used things doesn’t bother me, because I’m a huge thrift store shopper so I buy used things all the time. I have a brand new pair of red ears to wear with it when we go to WDW in March. I’m so excited about getting this shirt.

I think my DH is one of eBay’s best customers - he both buys and sells (he has sold many many items). I’m going to have him teach me how to sell so I can start getting rid of some items that I’m not willing to donate, or sell for nothing, in a garage sale. I wish we could buy and sell on The DIS, because I do have some Disney items I don’t want or need anymore.

I love eBay and shop it frequently but have never sold on it but like you I have items I need to sell and don’t want to do FB market

I've never used eBay and I don't plan to start. I think it is the fear of being cheated, of not getting what I paid for, is driving my reluctance to even look into it.

I used to buy things years ago.
Haven't used it or even looked at it in years.
I never sold anything.

I've bought one thing on Ebay. A cookie press. It was called Super Shooter. About 30 years ago, the barrel cracked and I thought "oh, well, I'll toss this and buy a new one" Unknown to me they had stopped making them. About 20 years ago, someone at church gave me her's. About 7 years ago, it was straining to work. I found several on ebay.

What is unbelievable, the whole kit was say $30 ( I dont remember ), but then you see people selling the barrel only $6, the cookie disc $2 each, the motor $20. The styrofoam packaging !!!!

I have things I’d like to sell, but shipping is a major pain to me and I get nervous after seeing how many issues my mom had as a seller. They do heavily favor buyers in disputes.

I have so many good to great eBay finds. If I have enough time before they need it, it’s good way to get cheap books for kid assignments. I’ve bought everything from jewelry, purses, Disney pins, and college gear to an antique table and a Dyson vacuum. Some were straight up buy it now’s while others have been auctions. I’m not going to lie… I use the sniping approach for auctions.

I used Ebay a lot. Whenever I am in the market for something, I check Ebay before buying it retail. For example, I had my eye on a coat on the Coldwater Creek website that cost $150.00. I checked Ebay and found it brand new for $50.00.

I buy and sell on eBay regularly. It's no surprise that eBay sides with the buyer 99% of the time but I haven't had any issues with problematic buyers in years. You can find hidden gems on eBay if you know where to look and what types of sellers to avoid. In my experience Amazon has WAY more sketchy sellers than eBay nowadays.

I used to do quite a bit of ebay , about 15 years ago, buying and selling, but haven't lately. Every once in a while, I"ll go on and buy something, but it's been a while. I might have to take a look.

I picked "other". While I haven't personally used Ebay, I've had a co-worker who buys and sells there grab me a couple of cd's that I couldn't find in stores.

I used to buy on EBay back when it was more like the world’s largest garage sale. When it became mostly storefronts, and a way for theft rings to get rid of stolen merchandise, it wasn’t as interesting to me. I haven’t used it in probably twenty years.

I agree with @Smugpugmug that Amazon is just as sketchy these days. You have to be diligent in researching the seller before using either one.

Back around the 1999-2003 range I bought some things but I haven’t looked at anything there in at least 20+ years.

When we left our last home I “declutterred” and sold a lot of belongings. Was successful on several platforms including eBay. Am now planning to sell most of my Mom’s crystal ware and will probably try eBay again.

I’ve mostly had good experiences buying there with few exceptions.

I've bought numerous things on ebay, but I have not bothered to sell anything.

Between the fees and the effort I just don't see it worth it for the small things I want to get rid of.
I had several small items to sell recently and after looking into it and what they sell for on ebay I just donated it.
It would have been a lot of effort to make a little money.

As for buying - I am sure I am buying things folks got for a $1 at a yard sale.
That is fine with me - they put in the effort to get it and list it etc..

I pretty much never use buy it now. I add items to my watchlist and see if they make me an offer.
Then I usually make a counteroffer - most of the time its accepted.
I'll occasionally bid for something - but not often.

Recently I've bought a bunch of items I would have purchased on vacation for much less then they would have cost me (even with shipping prices) and they are big and bulky so now I don't have to carry them - so that is nice.
