We make pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, mostly because it's traditional. We all have desserts we prefer, and we'll make those, too. This year we are planning an eggnog pie, apple cobbler, and a cherry pie. DD is talking about making a cheesecake and SIL says maybe he and the resident 8 year old will make a chocolate cream pie. There will be vanilla ice cream and whipped cream available for all desserts. Let me remind you, there are only the 5 of us for dinner this year; we have a LOT of desserts. Might skip the pumpkin this year!
(although my 2 nephews arrive on Friday for 2 nights...)

While I wouldn't say it's disgusting, I do not like it at all, and have no plans to eat any on Thanksgiving or ever. This year, DH is picking up 2 cakes. MIL always makes pumpkin pie as the only dessert, so I"m glad we'll have alternatives this year. yuck!

I like pumpkin pie but have a difficult time discerning it from sweet potato pie. I remember my Aunt would make non-canned pumpkin pie which was a little grainy, but very good.

I love both pumpkin and sweet potato pie and will eat both happily...preferably
warmed up a little with whipped cream added after

I do not like pumpkin pie. Something about the texture I think just doesn't appeal because I like pumpkin cake and such. Just not the pie.

I am on dessert duty for our family vacation and others in my family like it so I will make one. Actually, DS6 and I are going to start in on our baking for tomorrow in just a few minutes.

Love it - ironically, we buy our pumpkin pie from Costco most years now. I like their pies and we can't even make them homemade for less than what they charge. :)

I don't like pumpkin pie, but I just found a recipe for Dulce de Leche pumpkin pie that I'm going to try!

I like it but tend to favor other pies when available instead.

A chestnut pie, a pecan pie, butterscotch pie, apple pie, other fruit pies, etc are usually more my taste compared to when I was younger I would devour pumpkin pie. I think some of it is I've had too many so so pumpkin pies. Also I think I've found a variety of other recipes that include pumpkin puree and loads of spices that I can get that flavor profile in without the pie. Maybe another reason is I do like warm pies these days on average.

Normally we have both an apple pie and a pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving and Christmas. But with just two of us, two pies would be too much. Just a Dutch Apple this year and it just went in the oven.

I like/love pumpkin pie but I do not think Vince is serving that this year. I only have it around the end of year holidays, so not a year round treat. I do like the wagon wheel Costco ones.

Then one year my MIL decided to buy this big huge pumpkin pie from Costco, that’s the size of a wagon wheel, and I’m not a fan of that at all - it’s never completely done in the center. There’s no reason why pumpkin pie needs to be that big - just because it can be, doesn’t mean it should. I eat a small piece to be polite and thank her for bringing it, but down deep I’m kinda annoyed that I’m not making and eating my own. This year she couldn’t get to Costco, so she’s getting the pumpkin pie from a restaurant - Bakers Square if anyone remembers that place - there isn’t many around anymore. I will like that pie a lot more than the Costco one.
Slo, I am with you on Costco pumpkin pie. Every year, my husband asks me to get one, and he ends up eating the entire thing by himself (over a period of time) because I just find it disgusting. It is too big, it's usually grainy, and it has that nasty water sitting on top it. Absolutely grosses me out. I do like one slice of pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving, but not from Costco! This year, he asked me to get Costco's pumpkin cheesecake instead. It's good for cheesecake, but I'm not really a fan of cheesecake or pie.

I dislike pumpkin pie and won't eat it. It is served at DH's Sister's Thanksgiving dinner but I never touch it. Would much prefer pecan, coconut custard or any fruit filled pie.

I don’t like it, and I don’t serve it. Sometimes my DSiS brings one, so, it’s on the dessert table. I really enjoy apple pie and I make one fresh every Thanksgiving morning.
OK, my DSis just informed me that she realizes that the cheesecake she picked up is a “Pumpkin Cheesecake!” So, we will have a pumpkin flavored dessert on our table, after all!

I like pumpkin pie. Our real estate agent from 4 years ago has a big pie giveaway party every year, I chose a pumpkin pie out of the 5 options.

My DH likes pecan, and I make him one for his birthday, but I find that disgustingly sweet.
