Alright everyone…..it’s time to come clean and be brutally honest about your feelings about pumpkin pie. So many people say - I think it’s great 👍🏻 and down deep they think - I think it’s nasty 👎🏻 LOL! My mom is one of those people - she will always say to everyone, but me, that she likes pumpkin pie, and when she takes a sliver of pie to be polite, she’ll say it’s because she’s full, but I know the real reason - LOL! How about you……

What is your honest and true opinion of pumpkin pie - you can be honest here - it’s a safe place :lmao:
Will you eat a slice on Thanksgiving ::yes:: or say - no thanks? :sad2:
(multiple choice)

For Me……I like most pumpkin pies, but then there’s others I don’t. I used to make my own for Thanksgiving, and that I like a lot. Then one year my MIL decided to buy this big huge pumpkin pie from Costco, that’s the size of a wagon wheel, and I’m not a fan of that at all - it’s never completely done in the center. There’s no reason why pumpkin pie needs to be that big - just because it can be, doesn’t mean it should. I eat a small piece to be polite and thank her for bringing it, but down deep I’m kinda annoyed that I’m not making and eating my own. This year she couldn’t get to Costco, so she’s getting the pumpkin pie from a restaurant - Bakers Square if anyone remembers that place - there isn’t many around anymore. I will like that pie a lot more than the Costco one.

I like pumpkin, but don't eat crust on a pie, so I make pumpkin custard with crunchy topping and that is what will be at our Thanksgiving dinner.
DS is also buying a pecan pie or a Lemon meringue.

Your picture, Slo, is really the only way I can eat a little slice of pumpkin pie.

But on the other hand I do have my Dutch apple pie ready to be heated with a scoop of vanilla on top. :thumbsup2

My Mom years ago made pumpkin pies the night before (Thanksgiving Eve I call it) and my oldest DS would go to her house to help and play Chess with her. He has very fond memories of those moments together.

I like pumpkin pie but I won’t miss it if it isn’t served for Thanksgiving dessert.

Update: DD definitely intends to make French Apple pie today for tomorrow’s dessert.

I love pumpkin pie and we either get a store bought pie or my daughter might make one for Thanksgiving.

But we also have a variety of other desserts as well at Thanksgiving and they’re all served buffet style, so everyone just helps themselves.

At the end of the evening there is always at least a half of pumpkin pie left, while other desserts have been demolished. And I’m happy. It means pumpkin pie leftovers for me. lol.

I like pumpkin pie, DH will eat it. That's about it. We had thanksgiving last week (just to get everyone together), we didn't have pumpkin pie. I bought a frozen pie, I will make it at some point for me to enjoy. And that's my pumpkin fix for the year. If you offered me a slice in July, I'd eat it. but pumpkin pie goes with coffee and Hallmark Christmas movies.

I don’t like pumpkin pie, and we don’t have it for Thanksgiving. We have cherry pie and pecan pie instead. If I am at someone else’s house and they serve pumpkin pie, I can force down a small piece to be polite.

This is how I feel about the best way to eat it (although I would sprinkle a little cinnamon sugar on top if available) . . .

I live pumpkin and sweet potato pie too.
Of late I make a pumpkin roulade or jelly roll so I don’t have to make a crust my Nana would n’t own. I’m getting better at crust making but time IS running out.

I hate pumpkin pie. It's slimy. 🤮. I can't eat slimy, makes me gag. But even worse, it tastes like pumpkin. The smell of pumpkin gives me rotten pumpkin flashbacks from Halloweens past. 🤢

Anyway, DH and the kids love it. So DH is going to teach DD12 how to make a pumpkin pie tonight. I will teach her how to make something edible like an apple pie.

I’m not a fan of pumpkin everything but will eat things like pumpkin bread or cake but not pie. Between the flavor just being ok to me and not liking the texture I pass on it. It’s also not a traditional part of our thanksgiving and I didn’t grow up eating it. We also don’t serve it at friends thanksgiving or cousins thanksgiving. I’m honestly not sure the last time I was somewhere where it was served.

I chose "it's edible." Pumpkin pies vary a lot in spice blend/amount and texture. Some are better than others but it's hard to tell until you have it on your plate. If it was the only dessert offered, I'd probably take a small piece (and make an excuse if I needed to), but if there were dessert options, I'd choose something else.

My favorite fall pie is apple. Apple > pumpkin pie any day.
For pumpkin-flavored desserts, i prefer pumkin roll (swiss roll cake with pumpkin cake and cream cheese frosting filling) more than pumpkin pie.

At thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, I know there will be pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry pie, and pumpkin roll at minimum. I do NOT anticipate having pumpkin pie.

I love pumpkin pie. We get from a bakery that can make non dairy for my DH and DM who have food allergies.

I like it homemade only; store-bought is always too sweet and bland. I’d never put on a Thanksgiving feast without one, it’s just a standard part of the menu. Enough people like and expect it that it always goes. I never make one at any other time of the year, though.

I love pumpkin pie. The only way we'll have it tomorrow is if my son's friend brings one with him. We already have a bourbon pecan pie and a coconut custard pie. My DH hates pumpkin pie, so I serve other things in lieu of pumpkin and I eat it when I'm out or when someone brings it to my house.
