Many have a very strong opinion on what’s better - shower curtains or shower doors?

Enquiring Minds want to know today…..
What do you have in your home - shower curtain, shower door or both?
Which one do you prefer?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..We have both in our home. The master bathroom has shower doors and I don’t like them :sad2: . The main bathroom for the house has a shower curtain and I do like that :thumbsup2 . The downstairs bathroom has a shower door and I do like that because we’ve never used this shower so this shower is a storage closet - so the door is good for that :thumbsup2 (one day I should take a shower in that shower - we’ve lived here almost 20 years). The reason why I like a shower curtain over shower doors is that they are easier to keep clean - when it starts looking like it needs to be cleaned you just throw it away and put up a new one. Shower doors are a pain in the neck to clean and to keep clean - definitely not a fan:sad2: If we live here long enough we may make some changes in our bathroom.

OMG I hate and he is not a strong enough word sliding shower doors I can’t stand them I can’t stand cleaning them I can’t stand the looks of them and I deal with it every day because my master bathroom has them I would like the doors that open and close if I had to have glass doors which I hope someday to switch them over
The other bathroom as a shower curtain and a liner and if the liner gets bad I throw it away and get a new one so I can wash the shower curtain and it’s clean no effort on my part the wash machine does it all
I much prefer the shower curtain or a shower that you just walk into but who has that kind of space not me 🤣🤣

I grew up in a house with shower doors. They come off the track which is annoying and if you have hard water are difficult to keep sparkling. I have the type of cloth curtains you toss in the wash and hang up to dry. No liner needed. It’s great and you can change up the style quickly.

Right? I’d love to get rid of the old bath and just have a shower that takes up half the space!

I like doors, however they are so hard to keep clean and in good condition. When I remodeled the bathroom recently, I went with a curtain, and while it's hard to say that I like it better, it is much easier. I also got a nice 20,000 Leagues design for it, so it looks nice.

We have doors on both of our showers. I don't like them, but I put up with them. I find that cleaning them by spraying Kaboom on them and letting it sit for a few minutes and then wiping it off with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser usually removes the soap scum with a minimum of effort.

Unfortunately all 3 of our bathrooms have shower doors. I hate them. As others have said, they are too hard to keep clean.

We have curtains. The vinyl ones and since I’m cheap, we’ve had the same one for years. Throw it in washer. Two mins in dryer ( still wet but got warm enough to hang ).

We have a bath and half, so just one tub/shower. It has a curtain and liner.

I definitely wouldn't want the old-style frosted sliding doors. The clear glass that opens wouldn't be too bad, but I think I still prefer the curtains.

The 2 bathrooms in the main part of the house are shower/tub combos & both have shower curtains.
My part of the house has a stand alone shower that the previous owner installed for his elderly mother. Not huge but big enough to move around in & put in a shower chair if needed. I use a shower curtain. I would only want the doors if I had a much larger stand alone shower, luxury style, lol. I absolutely hate shower doors on tub/shower combos. Hard for me to get into & the railing tracks are awful. I remember sitting on the side of the tub bathing my kids when they were little but that is impossible with those tracks.

I prefer glass doors. Remodeled 4 bathrooms. Took out sliding doors in 3 of them (hate those) and put glass in. The one that I went with a shower curtain, I regret. Should of went with glass.

I have a shower door now (very old, swing style not slider). I don't love it, but that's mostly because it's old and doesn't even open a full 90 degrees. I mostly grew up with shower curtains and I think there are pros and cons to both and don't have a strong preference either way.

I’ve always found shower curtains the bigger struggle to keep clean. That’s not to say that buildup isn't a problem with glass. Still, I love the look. We did bathroom renovations a few years ago and went for a glass door on one and glass panel on the other.

It's not the glass that I found difficult to keep clean, but rather the fasteners, rollers, track, all those little rubber things. They always get gross over time.

Our main bathroom has a shower curtain. The shower curtain is beautiful and adds a lot of color to a plain bathroom. I love it. The shower curtain hides the shower supplies on the rim of the bathtub. The curtain can be completely moved so that it is easy to access the tub for cleaning.

We have a small bathroom that used to be a powder room next to the kitchen. The bathroom was recently remodeled to add a shower with beautiful, tiled walls and a sliding glass shower door. I really like the glass door because it shows off the tile and it makes the small bathroom feel more spacious. But it does take additional work to wipe down the shower doors. And since the shower is smaller than a standard bathtub, The width of the open glass doors is somewhat smallish. I would be impossible for a handicapped person to enter this shower.

Both. Glass doors on the walk-in shower in the ensuite and a curtain on the tub in the main bath. Since nobody but DH and I see the ensuite, I don’t obsess over it - I scrub the doors every once in a while, when I feel like it.

My challenge has always been soap scum on the glass from hard water...even with our water softener. The rest hasn't really been an issue. I bought a big powered brush some time ago and it helps make cleaning those areas a lot easier.

My dislike of shower doors goes back almost 45 years to my parents home and one of my ( and husband's) first apartments. Both were old doors, wobbly and soap scummed. I faithfully tried to clean them, nothing helped. I knew then, as a 15 -25 year old, shower doors were never going to be my choice.
Plus, I can change up a shower curtain for decorative purposes. I do a WINTER themed bathroom every year. I will get started on it soon!
I do remember thinking when I stayed at Coronado Springs recently, that if I had a maid to clean the shower door EVERYDAY, the one in that bathroom was very nice!!
