Sticking with the Halloween theme this week……

Are you or anyone in your house carving pumpkins this year?
If yes….how many pumpkins will be carved or are already carved?

I absolutely can’t stand carving pumpkins (party pooper - I know - LOL!)
Even as a kid I hated it.
When my kids were little, I helped them with theirs, but that’s it, nothing more.

*Interesting tip I just learned that I’ll share with you all…..if you spread Vaseline on the cut areas of the pumpkin it will prevent it from drying out and make the jack o lantern last longer

I am so so about it. Huge mess. I am always the one who has to get the guts out of everyone’s pumpkins—mine, kids, DH. Everyone else does a half butted job. Plus most of like the roasted seeds.

Anyways it’s been a few years since anyone here carved one. Older DD’s are away at school. Youngest DD is busy. She may decide in the next few days she wants to do it and I will get her a pumpkin and clear it out for her, but only if she brings it up LOL. The only pumpkins out right now at my house are ceramic or plastic.

We don’t do Fall/Halloween decor at all. Nobody can see our house cause it sits so far back plus there’s lots of trees and I don’t bother decorating for just my husband and myself.

Yep, we'll be carving pumpkins. Probably 2 of them. Need to head over to the local farm market to pick up a couople of them.

The kids always say they'll help, but DH and I do all the work. Oh well. I do like roasted pumpkin seeds....

We will carve pumpkins. I don't like the smell of carving pumpkins, but I don't mind it otherwise. We're going to be doing 2 pumpkins this year (me and DH) because we have different ideas on what makes a good jack'o'lantern. I usually do a face on mine. He prefers a scene or character. My son has never been that into carving them -- but he likes roasted pumpkin seeds -- but my daughter enjoyed it. Both kids are away at college now, so I don't know if I'll roast the seeds or not.

We'll probably carve them sometime this weekend. Trick or treat is Monday night... and the trash is picked up on Tuesday, so they'll probably only have a short life as a jack-o-lantern.

I think they look cool I just don’t care to do it - food for deer so why bother - I’d do all that work and that Joan Crawford Deer she’s gonna eat it because she’s mean that way !! She did my plants for my little tiny farm - she’s got a mean streak - I’m gonna get me a wire hanger and shake it at her

We carved last year when the grand kids had a Halloween party.

We will not carve this year.
I don't like it, too messy and too much effort.
If anything we paint them or stick in the decorations. I think we have Minnie parts to put in one. But I don't plan on buying one this year

It's on our list for this weekend! I don't really enjoy it and we will carve 1. I prefer painting pumpkins - less mess and everyone can be involved!

No. I have a ceramic Jack O Lantern that I can put a candle in, if I am so inclined. Same effect without the mess, especially if I use my battery operated tea lights.

I can’t stand the feeling of pumpkin guts!

We love Halloween but do not like carving pumpkins.

We have always craved pumpkins but this year decided not too.

Kids loved doing it and would get 6 pumpkins so they could do 3 each.

Husband loves the seeds and roast them. So we would do 2 and put them out.

I'm with you, @slo. I hated it as a child, and would help the kids as needed, but usually only if DH was out of town. DH loves it, so even though the kids are grown and gone, he gets a pumpkin and carves it (traditional carving...nothing fancy). I'm fine with him doing it and cleaning it up.

That said, I don't have problems with squash in general. I make pumpkin pies with fresh pumpkin (the sweeter ones for pie), and we have a lot of other types of squash you have to clean out (delicata, acorn, butternut, spaghetti, etc.

We used to always have the boys each carve a pumpkin and I would help out a little (less and less as they got older). This year, with one boy out of town and the other with no interest, we won't be carving any pumpkins.

Not doing it this year, but I do like doing it. Mostly I did it it with children, my sons and with scouts.

Her pumpkin is currently not winning the contest (people can vote), it’s currently in third place. All the pumpkins the players did are very impressive.
With her pumpkin, the ball in the pumpkins mouth is a special ball that her Dad drew a face on when she was around 11yrs old. That poor ball is worn out - I’ve thrown that ball for her to hit a gizillion times. She thought it was fun to add that ball to her pumpkin. She’ll wash it off and still keep it once the contest is over. That ball is now housed in her bat bag and is always with her - it is retired - LOL!
