We've been several times, but mostly because it's DS29's favorite restaurant and we go for his birthday.

I'm a little introverted, so the idea of eating in a square with strangers isn't my idea of an enjoyable meal.

I've never eaten at one. I'd be eating solo and I think I would feel very awkward. It seems like it's more of a group experience to me.

Have been a few times, though it’s been many years. Went with DS and friends for his birthday when he was young. The kids
loved it.

Have a good time tonight Slo!
:bday:

There was a Benihana near my office when I first started working and that was where we went for birthday lunches. It was so good. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp and shrimp sauce. The leftovers were wrapped in foil and shaped into a swan. I haven’t been back to a hibachi in many years. Enjoy your birthday dinner @slo!

We love hibachi grill restaurants! I think they are so much fun and the food is so good! I will say, I've always gone with a group, so I'm not sure how I'd feel going by myself or with just DH. I think it would still be fun, but could also be awkward depending on the group you are sitting with!

Love them - just took our younger son to one when we visited him a couple weekends ago for parents' weekend at his college (his request). We go a couple times a year, on average.

I went to my first one a couple of years ago - taking DS and his friends out to eat when we visited him at college. It was yummy! We had a fair-sized group as it was, but if somebody on their own had been seated with us, we absolutely would have adopted them into our fun!

Enjoy your birthday dinner, @slo!!

Just once, at the one in Japan/ Epcot about a zillion years ago. From what I remember we enjoyed it, my wife loved the plum wine!

The only one we've eaten at was the one in Epcot when it was called Tepenyski. Not sure what the name is now. It was fun, entertaining, food was fine.

And sgsin, Sandy, Happy Birthday! Enjoy tonight.
Thanks Dan :goodvibes
I really like them, but as I have had bariatric surgery, it's not very cost-effective for me- just like a buffet. I pay full price but eat less than a 6 year old. Oh well, it's all part of the fun, right?

Have a wonderful birthday dinner!!
Thanks leebee :goodvibes
I've been to one or two. They are okay.
DGD loves them because the one they go to throws shrimp at her :rotfl:

Enjoy your dinner, the day and all the rest of the days before the next one.

Happy Birthday, Slo! party:

I have never tried a hibachi restaurant. I really prefer not to sit with strangers while dining, especially since most of my dining is solo. I think they might be fun if your party filled the table though.
Thanks fla4un :goodvibes
We have a few in our area. My dad loved it, so that was his birthday dinner every year. We've also eaten at the one in Epcot many times! My younger son hated it when he was little, but I think now that he's older we'll try it again!

Happy Birthday Slo!
Thanks bennifer :goodvibes

We have been several times. There is a hibachi grill we regular when we visit my Dad, it is really good and reasonably priced.

Happy Birthday, @slo! 🥳

Happy Birthday!

I love the hibachi restaurants. We go to Benihana for my birthday every year. And for Christmas. And my parents' anniversary (their first date was at Benihana). And any other chance that comes up. And I go to Teppan Edo at Epcot just about every vacation.

I've done a couple and they were the typical chef show. In fact, it's hard to think of any new innovations in this eatery space.

I have been a few times and they are fine, but not something I will go out of my way to do. The show is neat the first time I guess. I'd rather just order food from the kitchen though.

I loved these restaurants as a kid. As an adult, I really don't care much for them because I don't enjoy eating dinner at a big table with people I don't know.

I like them fine but we don't go to them often. Maybe once every 2-3 years. The one near us is always super crowded. I'm not into waiting 2 hours for a table. I don't mind other people being at the table. It's not like were really interacting with them. The food is pretty good, and it's always a lot so we end up with leftovers for a 2nd meal.

I have only been once 22 years ago on our honeymoon. It was fun. I keep meaning to try it again. I actually had reservations for one last year but ended up cancelling it and went to a Japanese’s BBQ place instead Which we enjoyed.

Enjoy your birthday dinner!

Well, I voted I had been to one, but I guess technically I have not. I guess a Hibachi grill cooks with coal or wood. The places I have been to use electric or natural gas to cook and are known as Mongolian BBQs.
What is everyone's understanding of what a Hibachi grill is?
