I volunteered as a driver a a celebrity golf tournament a few times so I met a lot of "celebrities" there - mostly sports stars, but others as well. I picked up Jim McMahon (Bears quarterback) at the airport and drove him the 40 minute trip to the hotel. When we were waiting for his luggage, we were having a good conversation and he was very relaxed. Once people at the baggage claim started to recognize him and come up (Interrupting our conversation over and over and over again) to ask for signatures and photos, he definitely got a little tense, but then he was ok again when we started driving. I also drove him several times during the week. I think he had a "not friendly" reputation, but 1:1, he was very nice and we had good conversation. He also made a point to say hello to me every time we bumped into each other during the tournament.

I also drove Adam Baldwin (NOT a Baldwin Brother) as he laughingly stated when he got into the car. He was also really nice and even took me to dinner one evening. He was just getting ready to shoot "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson.

I met Ozzy Osbourne at a 7/11 back in the 80's.

I've met a lot of musicians in the early 90's - mainly hair metal bands and a lot of NHL players in the late 90's when I was still single and going to clubs with girlfriends.

I’ve met a few.

When I was really young, I met a man by the name “Red Buttons”. I guess he was a comedian or something back in the day.

I went to high school with John Bongiovi AKA Jon Bon Jovi. I knew him fairly well because we were both in the marching band. He was a year behind me in school though.

I met Paul Newman in NYC at a wrap party for the movie “Legal Eagles”. He opened a beer and asked me if I want to split it with him. I wasn’t a huge fan of beer but I said “sure” so he poured half into a glass.

I met Timothy Hutton in a limo. He was working on a movie in NYC and as I recall, someone had passed away and we went to the funeral.

Oh and I met Michael J Fox while he was filming “The Secret of my Success” in NYC. Other than my high schools year book with Bon Jovi, MJF is the only one that I have an actual photo with. IMG_2822.jpeg

It was the early 80s. Ugh to those huge glasses and short perm! lol

All of the above were extremely friendly. 🙂

I should say that my father was a Theatrical Teamster working out of New York. 🗽📽️🎬🎞️

P.S. I was an “extra” in an ABC After School Special. It was fun. 📺

I have a weird one. Back in the 70s, my friend and I were chatted up by OJ Simpson and his buddy at a bar in Los Angeles. He bought us drinks and asked if we wanted to go to a party. He was quite good-looking, but thankfully we declined.

A nicer memory is of chatting about our dogs with the old talk show host Merv Griffen in a store in Palm Springs. He was quite charming.

I caught football 🏈 🏈 passes from Greg Brock.... Spring of 1983 he was the number 1 celebrity of major league baseball...all eyes of MLB Nation was on him....then pitchers discovered his Achilles heel and he lost his rookie of the year to Daryl strawberry

Hmmm. I’m not sure what you mean? :confused3
First of all good evening....the generations of all folks Disney is truly amazing...I am a alphabet book Disneyland kid..so that indicates how old I am...so old that when I watch the movie Tombstone... I don't see a cowboy but a computer

Red Buttons is part of Disney movie history ...and I just loved the innocence of the beginning of your fantastic post

I got to meet some MLB and NFL players in my childhood as well as political officials. There might have some racing team people too.

Wow! You all have met a lot of celebrities! I can only recall a couple. The most memorable was Dennis Rodman and his entourage who sat at a table next to my husband and me in Las Vegas about 20 years ago. He had body guards nearby that waved off anyone trying to approach him. There was a constant changeover of the young women sitting at the table. Some would up and leave and different young women sat down. He later got up and sang karaoke on the outdoor stage. It was at that point, that more people realized he was there and he was swarmed with people. The entourage all got up and left. It was all very bizarre.

I've met a couple nationally known celebrities who live in our metro area. I've actually run into both more than once, and crossed paths with the daughter of one quite a few times running errands for my mom. I don't want to identify them because I can't really say anything nice about one and if I identify the one who has been just a decent human every time I've bumped into him it might make people correctly guess the identity of the jerky one and I don't want to slam him and put that out into the universe.

The one who has always been just an unassuming, normal guy when I run into him also must have done a decent job parenting, because his daughter has always been pleasant to people around her (store clerks and wait staff) and flies entirely under the radar except for people who might recognize who she is.

Thank you for explaining! :teacher:

OK, if this helps, my meetups include: Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Tina Turner, Pete Townshend, Joe Walsh, Billy Preston, Billy Joel, Harry Chapin, KC (of the Sunshine Band), Gwen Stefani. Any of those names ring a bell? ;)
Thank you, Ron, for saving me from old age! I'd DIE if I met Paul McCartney!! (Even old ladies have heartthrobs!)

Met Jimi Hendrix at Disneyland in October 1969, He was doing some filming there and during a break I walked over and said hi to him and he happily took a couple of pictures with me. I was 15 at the time. Wish I still had those pictures!!

That I can recall:
Mahalia Jackson - autograph
Marge & Gower Champion - autographs
Danny Thomas - picture & autograph
Jon Provost - picture
Reva Rose
Robert Hayes
Brian Keith - picture & autograph
Al Jardine (Beach Boys) - babysat his kids (no pictures or autographs)

I didn’t actually meet her but I saw Judge Judy years ago while eating at a small restaurant with my Mother in West Palm Beach. She was sitting with another woman at a nearby table. I’m ashamed to say that I couldn’t stop staring at her trying to determine that it really for sure was her.

Also I’m sure no one here would remember “Howdy Doody” and I don’t even remember him myself but my mother says I was on the show in the peanut gallery. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Here are a few more:

My family and I were on the Ellen DeGeneres show. She did a story about my breast cancer fight. It was just amazing. Flew us across the country to be on the show and I got every gift that was given out to her audiences that year for the 12 days of Christmas. Still unreal when I think about it.
