*NO POLL TOMORROW - poll will resume on Friday*

Last night we were reminiscing about when we met a few celebrities in the past, which led to me starting to wonder if any of you have met a celebrity. When I say “met a celebrity”, what I mean by that is you met them and talked with them for awhile. So, I’m curious today……

Have you ever met an spoke with a celebrity?
If yes…..did you take a picture with them?
How many celebrities have you met?
(multiple choice)

*A celebrity is defined as a famous person.
This can be anyone famous, not just a movie or TV star

For Me……I’ve met many, but no one recently - everyone I met was during my 20’s.

During our Chicago clubbing days we met Walt Willey from All My Children - he hung out with us one night.
Another was Wayne Arnold, who was the older brother in The Wonder Years - he sat our table for awhile (different night than Walt Willey)
Both I do not have pictures with - we were at a club and I wasn’t carrying my camera.

My DH is a huge Indy Car Fan and is known by some at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Back before kids I would go with him into the garage area and I met many drivers (present day and past/retired). One year I was very pregnant with my first and some drivers invited me to come sit in their garage for awhile. There I spoke with them and met their families - it was pretty awesome. I do have some pictures with them.

I’ve seen other celebrities in Chicago, but I never met them - I just saw them from afar.

I've met a bunch of celebrities, mostly musicians, because I worked as a receptionist at a radio station right out of college. We were never told who was coming in when, so it was always exciting. As a very young (and poor!!) adult, my favorite part was the free music/cds they'd bring and hand out.

I’ve met quite a few celebrities but generally never would make a big deal of it. When I was “younger” I worked for a family that had a lot of business contacts with famous people… Sammy Davis, Chuck Berry, Rodney Dangerfield, smoked pot with Rick James and the Mary Jane Girls(😂), bumped into Marie Osmond with just a bathing suit -both in our early 20’s, Andre the Giant(he liked straight vodka), Liberace, Don Shula, Barry Sanders(in Epcot), Jason Alexander a couple times. Countless others but don’t think I’ve ever asked for a picture -usually kept it to basic introductions and shared a laugh or two along the way …treated them like anyone else. I did have the fortune of literally bumping into Roy E. Disney and Michael Eisner on Main Street at MK 20th which was a highlight.

I've seen many celebrities, politicians and reporters from afar. The celebrities included the actors in the TV show The Middle, who were filming in the MK when we were taking a Keys to the Kingdom tour. The actor who played Axl waved at me when I waved to him. :)

I've also seen actors who were filming in Chicago and in our town. I've seen Politian's and news reporters walking around the Chicago loop.

As far as meeting celebrities, I don't recall having met anybody from TV, music, or the movies. I have "seen" a few celebs before, including George Bush (the OG Bush).

I have met a couple former Indiana University basketball players, Calbert Cheaney and another whose name I cannot quite recall (if that qualifies as a celeb outside the state of IN).

Most of the famous people I’ve met were/are in the music business.

Met Julia Child when she attended a Les Dames d’Escoffier meeting in Garden City; still thrilled to the nth at the thought.

Edna Lewis was the chef at Gage &Tollner for an anniversary dinner and at the end of the night shared a bottle of wine with us. The ex was at the apex of his charm skills that evening.

Meryl Streep bumped me with her shopping cart once.

Bobby Hebb. A lot of you won't recognize the name, but he wrote and performed the hit "Sunny" in the early 60's ("Sunny, yesterday my life was full of rain, Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain..."). He was a pretty big deal in music in the 50s and 60s (including touring with the Beatles). I hung out with him and a group of friends in the early 1980s, doing far too many drugs and drinking way too much booze. Not a good time in my life, although I thought so then. Anyhow, he had a big estate near where I was living and my friends and I spent a lot of weekends there. He and I had the same birthday, although he was 18 years older than I. He passed away in 2010.

Kevin Costner at Universal in CA, so handsome

Mister Rogers on a flight to Orlando. He was heading to Winter Haven I think it was. He was so kind to everyone on the plane.

Barry Manilow twice.

In my younger younger days, Davy Jones from The Monkees, talk about making a teenage girls dreams come true

I've met a number of celebs. I also have some friends and acquaintances that later went on to become celebs.

The standout celeb moment for me was in June of 1997. I was in the Atlanta airport and was flying standby back to Houston. So, I was one of the last people waiting in the boarding area. Maybe about 10-15 minutes before I boarded boxer Evander Holyfield showed up in the seating area near my flight's gate. This was literally about a week or two before the whole ear biting incident with Mike Tyson. He had a small entourage, but they didn't guard or hover over him. I looked up, made some unexpected eye contact, and gave a little smile and got a smile in return. I went back about my business until I noticed a small stream of people who were a lot less respectful. There were a few autographs and pictures, but the most obnoxious...this woman came up to him and just sat on his lap, yelling to her husband to take a pic of her with the champ. I have no poker face and I just sat there watching...horrified...mouth slack jawed until she got up and pranced off. Then I noticed that he noticed my response and our eyes locked. Not that I had anything to do with it, but I said I was sorry...I guess implying that I was sorry that some people are so intrusive and rude. He gave me this sort of troubled smile, shook his head, shrugged and said it's OK. They boarded him last but before the standbys, so I got another quick smile from him when I boarded the plane at the end. I was trying not to look for him or stare when I came on, but I noticed he nudged the guy next to him and they were both looking up and smiling at me. It was sweet.

Met quite a few over the years. I worked for an NBA player in the 90's so I met a lot of sport celebrities back then. When I worked for the airline I had many celebrities (sports, media, politicians, music, and tv/film) on my flights.

Some were wonderful, some were huge jerks. My favorite still is Laura Dern. Had lovely conversation with her and children on a flight about 10 years ago. Very down to earth, and we talked about parenting for at least 15-20 minutes.

Not really. I shook hands with Angela Lansbury outside the playhouse in DC for Blithe Spirit in 2015. She and the other cast members (including Charles Edwards, from Downton Abbey and Under the Vines) were leaving the back door as we passed. I was mad because my phone was being flakey and I only got grainy pictures.

I have been a massive IndyCar fan for decades and have met, and sat, with many drivers. In fact, that passion led me to a career where I worked with several Formula 1 teams on the KERS development.

Some of driver's were at restaurants where they came to our table, while others I sat with in the paddock area. I have gobs of pictures over the years and grew up with the Andretti's in Nazareth. Our most recent gathering was with the Rahal's and Courtney with their dog Arrow.

My father worked in MLB for over 30 years, so I have met a couple of players/coaches throughout his career. I guess if I had to pick one, who was also my dad's friend, is Tommy Lasorda. Dad and Tom (before he was Tommy) would often eat together at my grandparent's house long before he became a manager. Oh....and their stories.......

I've met some; many various athletes; Magic Johnson, some Detroit Tigers and a few others.

My GF and I did wait for 6 hours in a Chicago hotel back in the day to meet Peter Falk. Got his autograph and a fruit basket he had been given from his hotel room. I still have the autograph but sadly not the fruit.

I've never met anyone in the wild. Everyone was via a meet & greet/convention type setup that was planned with the intention to meet them etc. The favorite was probably Patty Duke when she came to my town in the 90s to discuss one of her books and had a signing. Photo with Robert England is another favorite too. One of my class projects was on my collection of auto graphs.

My celebrity story is seeing RON SANTO ( if you know the Chicago Cubs, you know) on Michigan Av. in Chicago walking out of a doorway. I asked for a hug, I got one, we spoke for a few minutes and it's a highlight of my life. He is my #1 player. I don't even know if cell phones had cameras then, but I was so in awe, getting a picture with him never crossed my mind.

I should add that I "met" Jack Black at Disneyland. He was with his family, and we were on the Mr. Toad's ride (he was in the car behind me).

I went to the men's restroom and was doing my stand-up business and then he was next to me while his son had to use the toilet. It was awkward as some guests called him out while he was trying to help his son.

Just a weird situation.
