New Year’s Eve = Party Time for many of us :cool1:
Some of us will party with family and some of us will party with friends. Whoever you party with it, it’ll be a good time. Since it’s the Tuesday before NYE, us party goers need to be thinking about what we’re doing for the party regardless if you’re a guest or hosting. Me needing to go buy a gift card for the host of the party we are attending is something I need to do this morning, which is what inspired this poll. So let’s find out who’s partying tomorrow and who is going to enjoy a nice quiet night tomorrow. Give us your celebratory answer today…..

Are you attending a NYE party this year?
If yes…..are you a guest or a host?
Is the party at a home or a public establishment (like a bar or restaurant)
(multiple choice)

For Me……As I mentioned above, my DH and I will go to my neighbors house for their annual NYE party. They’ve been hosting this party for about 15 years now and it’s always a good time. The only time we didn’t attend is during COVID, because I’m supposed to be immunocompromised so we played it safe and stayed home that year. They always have a lot of food, which we don’t eat, because we go out for a NYE dinner with another friend before the party (the host knows this so they don’t include us for food) and then she has snacks for the rest of the night. We used to bring an appetizer to contribute, but it barely gets eaten because she has so much. So last year we gave the host a thank you card with a gift card to our town butcher and they loved it! I know I’d prefer that too, instead of another dish that will be thrown away or leftover. So, we’re going to do that again this year. We truly are grateful for all they do, to give us a great time every year.

I'm an "Other" because I have no clue! When DD and her family lived here we'd watch a televised ball drop/New Year celebration around 9pm so we could "celebrate" the New Year with the Little Guy before putting him to bed, and then the adults would watch a holiday movie and have a beverage or two. However, now they are in their own home. They could come here, but they will be having dinner and staying over the night of the 1st as DD and I have to catch a bus to NYC at 5:30AM on Friday- DH will drop us off and it's easier to have her here for the early morning departure- so I'm pretty sure we won't be doing anything together on NYE. She has to work both the 31st and the 1st, so... I don't know!! I DO miss having a party to go to. As much as I loathe motivating myself to dress and go out to a soiree, I always love being out and socializing, once I overcome my own inertia and GET there! I miss those days.

I voted Yes and Other. The party, which we all refer to as Geezer New Year (starts at 5:00 and ends at 9:00 :rotfl2:) rotates around where it’s hosted but I always do the food. This year it’s an Italian feast. Buon anno!
That sounds like a great party idea!

We don’t go out, but then neither of us are stay up late types. Husband headed out for hunting trip so it’ll just be me & the pups & a bottle of champagne 🍾. I think I’ll watch Dogma now that it’s available again (loved that movie, glad to get a chance to watch again). If I see 915 PM I’ll be surprised!

We used to go out to parties and/or bars but there are just too many drunk people on the road to risk that kind of driving. We usually put something together at our house and if we have family in town and/or the kids want to invite others over... they're welcome. We usually serve food similar to what we do on Christmas Eve...lots of appetizer style stuff, but often with some upgrades to fancier items. I was a bit too indulgent between Hanukkah and Christmas, so I think most of my consumption will be in on the seafood side of things BUT I have treated myself to a really nice bottle of champagne and I'm trying to figure out which of the nice stemware goes into use to honor the occasion.

We were all set to go on the DCL NYE Cruise on the Dream. Sadly, I got sick on Saturday, and we missed our Sunday flight, and were unable to book a flight out on Monday that would get us there in time on Monday, so we will be spending NYE at home. I do feel good, so that’s a plus!

We're too old to party, lol. Plus, we don't really drink. We'll go get a nice dinner, maybe Olive Garden as we got a GC for Christmas. Then we'll go home, and I'm sure one or both of us will fall asleep on the couch/recliner around 10:30. We'll wake up, realize it's the new year, we'll tell each other Happy New Year and we'll go back to sleep. We're old fogies (I'm 50, DW is 43). Don't really do the party thing.

Other. I am not sure what I’m doing. It will either be stay home have appetizers for dinner and drink champagne OR I’ll head down to my friends for the night. Neither option will I likely stay up until midnight.

Not a big party / NYE person, I'll likely be asleep by midnight. We can walk out to the beach and see fireworks going off by the pier at 8:30 so that will likely be the most we'll do.

Not to say haven't had some awesome NYE fun ~ for a few years before kids got out of college but old enough to enjoy we did some big ones ... NEW YORK CITY Times Square 🎉 New Orleans 📿 Nashville 🎸EPCOT 🥂... along with small ones. But now without the kids ~ I'm good staying home.

I have only been to one New Year's eve get together in my entire 68 years. In the past hubby and I would stay up and maybe have a glass of some bubbly and watch Dick Clark. Now, heck we are usually in bed by 10. Our neighbors do set off fireworks, which means I will be up comforting our dog because the loud noise scares her.

PSA. If you are going to set off fireworks in your neighborhood please do a quick check of the neighborhood for animals that it might scare or combat vets who might end up shaking in the closet. We have a vietnam vet who lives next door to us, he was wounded in battle and left in a field for a number of hours before a medivac could safely get to him. Needless to say, fireworks are not his friend. My father was in the Pacific during WWII and the plane he was in (he was the bomber guy who sat in the bubble in the planes off the air craft carriers) was shot down. Any loud noise and he was in the closest dark enclosed place he could find. Maybe go to a public space to watch fireworks if you have any of these people or pets in your neighborhood.
