I like eggnog in moderation, almost no one I know drinks it though so it's unusual for me to have it due to that.

FWIW homemade eggnog is something people need to be very careful about in terms of food safety. Storebought is pasteurized for food safety. The same should be done at home most especially in the last several years with all the egg issues we've been having.

No, just no. As a child I was too fussy to try anything like this, and as an adult I've tried it and I really don't like it. The only positive I can add is that it isn't as bad as a snowball... urgh

I'm not particularly fond of drinking a glass of eggnog, though DD asked me to buy some the other day. However I will use it in my coffee instead of creamer.

It's been forever since I have had it. I remember it being pretty good though. I just got out of the habit of drinking it a long time ago.

I am one, especially as a child, where I don't like something before trying it. If it seems weird or nasty to me I won't try it so I will say I don't like it. So I did not like egg nog as a child. My family weren't really big on egg nog at the holidays anyway but they would drink it at other people's houses, at a party for example.

That being said, I do like it as an adult and have even purchased some at the store (I am the only one that drinks it, hubby is of the "doesn't like it won't try it" persuasion. LOL) I am much more adventurous these days than I used to be and like a lot of things I never used to.

Now looking back, I believe if I had tried it as a child I would have liked it.

I only tried it for the first time about 2 years ago.

I don't think we had it at home as a kid. Not that I can recall at least.

Marie will usually pick up one or two quarts over the holiday weeks. I'll have msybe a total of 3 or 4 cups over the holidays. Marie adds a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. I do llike it, though probably not in the love category.

Sandy, pick up a quart for while Katie is home with you guys. I bet she'd try it this year, and like it.
I'd love to think she would, but I guarantee she'll give me a big 👎👎:crazy2:👎👎:scared:👎👎:scared1:👎👎

I liked eggnog as a kid and I like it as an adult. Quality of eggnog varies, I really like the one my dairy makes and as a bonus they deliver to my door. I have some coming in my delivery tomorrow for Christmas Day. In addition to drinking eggnog I bake with it. I brought an eggnog Bundt cake to a party last weekend and I’m thinking about making an eggnog cheesecake for Christmas.

My family has always served egg nog as a holiday treat. I can remember when my nana showed me how to make it from scratch. She'd always pour it in her big, glass punch bowl and it was such a treat to be given a ladle of eggnog in the matching cup/saucer, with a little sprinkle of nutmeg on top. Of course, this was before the alcohol was added to the punch bowl, for the adults!

I don't make it from scratch anymore- it's just a pain in the butt, not because I'm worried about bacteria. I bought a quart of regular eggnog and a quart of pumpkin eggnog at Thanksgiving, and have bought a quart of each for Christmas. The Little Guy ADORES eggnog, especially the pumpkin. He likes it slightly warmed with cinnamon- or whipped cream- on top, and his dessert request for thanksgiving was eggnog pie! We also enjoy eggnog cookies and eggnog cake.

Raw egg. NOPE! The thought is disgusting. I don't even eat runny eggs when partially cooked.

They may be pasteurized or heat treated, but they are not what I would call cooked!
Pretty close. Usually done by putting them in 140 degree water for 90 minutes.

Love it. Needs a shot of bourbon though. Had a glass last night.

Had it some years as a child. Liked it then and still like it today. Some are tastier to me than others. Haven’t purchased or consumed any so far this year. Not sure if I will buy some, but if someone else offers me some I will drink a small glass.

Not currently into drinking it, but I like eggnog flavored lattes, eggnog yogurt, and probably would like eggnog flavored desserts.

We used to enjoy it back in my younger, pre-diabetic days, but it's not something I can safely and comfortably consume with the sugar levels these days.
I make a good sugar free version (if you don't mind raw eggs, or use pastuerized or egg beaters).

ETA - my grandparents made eggnog for years when I was young... it was a cooked variety, served cold. I haven't had it that way in years, but I think I prefer the uncooked variety.

I love it, but drink it sparingly. Heart attack in a glass! I have maybe two or three half-glasses throughout the season. The local dairy here in these parts makes a fantastic eggnog. I drink it without alcohol, and I would NEVER drink unpasteurized eggnog!
