The game of checkers is a lot of fun, and a game we don’t play very often. Truth be told, my DD22 and I love to play Chinese Checkers and we like to time the game to try and win at the best time - it’s very fun! I used to play regular checkers with my grandpa a lot. He wasn’t someone that believed in watching a lot of TV, so him and I would play cards, board games, ping pong, pool, ride bikes, fly kites and more. During the winter, we’d play a lot of checkers - I have great memories of this. I noticed that today is National Checkers Day, which made me think that I should dig out my checker boards to play a few games with my DH. It also made me think about if any of you currently play checkers - let’s find out…..

For Me……I haven’t played regular checkers in so long - years actually. When I do play, I always like to be red - it’s my favorite color.

I played all the time growing up my father loved to play so I used to play all the time and yes I was red Which is my favorite color And then when my kids were little I taught them how to play and it was so cute when we would go to Cracker Barrel they would play each other while we were waiting for a table I had a travel set we would play on the airplane and we would also take it camping and we used to play when we were camping ️ I haven’t played in years But I do enjoy the game

Grand kids had no interest in it. Chess is DGS's game.

We call checkers "Draughts" in the UK. Something i used to play a lot of with my grandparents when I was younger but not a game i play often or at all now. Not because I don't like it, just because the opportunity to play doesn't usually present itself.

Played a lot as a kid with my brother. And then when we had Natalie's 2 boys almost every day when they were younger. Not recently. No color preference.

I have played checkers in the past, but never really enjoyed it. I did play Chinese checkers with my mom when I was little, and Cribbage with my dad. Card games were also played in our house.

I haven't played checkers in forever. I remember as a kid my grandfather would play with me (as well as every other card game, board game etc). I always want to be black.

I am a terrible person because when we played Old Maid, I would have him sit with his back to the window, the cards were thin enough the light would cause you to see through them. I am a terrible person

Used to play checkers with my dad when I was a kid.

Haven’t played in many years, since DS was young. We used to have a set that had checkers, chess, and backgammon all in one. It was wooden and the checkers and chess pieces were brown and white.

As a kid, I played with a red and black board. Had no preference of color, it probably changed with each game, and IIRC, black goes first.

I loved playing Checkers as a kid. As I got a little older, Connect Four was fun, too. I preferred red to black.

Yeah, I used to play checkers with my father and maternal grandfather, but it’s probably been over 30 years since I last played.

Back in the late 1960s/early 70s one of the neighborhood kids had Chinese checkers and we’d occasionally play.
