Most of the time, I just prefer salted fries. I'm not a big mayo person - I like it on a sandwich occasionally, but that's about it. I'll dip fries in ketchup occasionally or sometimes in other things like BarBQ sauce.

I'm from RI where this is common. I don't dip, but I put vinegar on my fries. In case you don't know, vinegar is the first ingredient listed on the ketchup bottle.

Vinegar is always good with fish & chips - a Rhode Island staple!

My usual two ways are plain, especially if they are really good fries, or with some ketchup. One child could have practically been nicknamed “the Big Dipper”, and through their endeavors, I tried them with all sorts of sauces and toppings and combinations. I haven’t had the vinegar style in a while now, and this conversation is making me think of seeking them again soon.

Now you've given me something new to try. I love both sweet potato fries and blue cheese dressing. Never had them together though. Gonna have to give it a shot.

Ketchup and mayo are both good.

So are at least a dozen other choices: various mustards, BBQ sauce, other flavored dipping sauces, etc.

But I never dipped a french fry into a chocolate milkshake.

I dip sometimes. I absolutely hate both ketchup and mayo, so those 2 things never go on anything I eat.

But I will sometimes try bbq sauce, blue cheese dressing, or mustard depending on my mood. Or often, I just eat them plain.
