National Dog Day was yesterday, so I’m a day late. In honor of our furry dog friends past and present, let’s talk dogs today. Share with us today…….

In your lifetime, how many dogs have you had and currently have in your life?
Give us your grand total

For Me…..I had one as a child - a beagle named Socks. Married, we’ve had 3 dogs that have passed away - A German Shepherd named Sampson, a Black Lab named Indy and a Yorkie named Sophie. Currently we have a Havanese named Otis. A grand total of 5 dogs 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

9 to 10 range here ! I’ve been crazy a couple times and gotten two puppies at once ( what was I thinking ?) I’ve also owned multiple dogs at a time on several occasions! For full disclosure I don’t get small dogs - nothing under 80 pounds for me ! Was never allowed pets as a kid so I’m making up for it as an adult !! My kids had all manner of pets some authorized some not 🤣🤣😡 we always had dogs my pet of choice !!! ❤️❤️

7... three as a child, all miniature poodles. Two of them overlapped.

And 4 as an adult. All larger breeds that don't live as long and all rescues.
-- a lab/hound mix, lived till 9 (cancer)
-- a lab mix, only lived till 4, although our vet thought he was older than we were told (cancer)
-- a supposed full-lab whom we referred to as "the devil dog" -- till 16
-- a standard poodle, currently 12

Growing up I had one who was like Nana from Peter Pan. She was a mutt, had crazy hair that went in every direction and had the sweetest temperament.

When I was a baby in the bassinet and crying, she always kept my older sister (18 months older) from tipping me over to shut me up, by tugging at her pajamas.

My dog that I have now has some personality traits that are similar. Others that are not. She's very sweet, incredibly smart (looks like a Border collie but not a drop of border collie blood to be found), has learned to put things in the recycling bin, has picked up when I'm about to have a seizure, and will remind us when it's time for her medicine.

I was 40 when I finally was able to adopt a dog! They have all been rescues, and older dogs. Belle was the oldest, 7 1/2 when we adopted her. We had:
Midnight
Buster
Daisy, only had her for four months, she had a tumor when we got her, and she passed after the operation. We had known her before we adopted and agreed to take her, this was a horrible loss.
Emma
Belle
And now we have Gus!

3 dogs.....one when I was very young, then for my 18th birthday I got a Pomeranian named Smoky and then when I had kids and we moved out to acreage we got Buster, a Lab/setter mix.

I prefer cats and have had a lot of them.....so much easy to take care of

In my 51 years...7. With 4 as a kid living with my parents and 3 with my adult life with husband and my kids.
Patches a German short hair pointer (got when I was 5)
Penny a cocker spaniel
Mickey a mixed breed
Chloe a cocker spaniel
Major a brittany spaniel
Phoebe a mixed breed
Woody a cairn terrier (passed a year ago)

None. I've always had cats. But several neighbors and family members not too far away have dogs, so I'm never lacking a "puppy fix" if I need one. - I do like them, and am happy to pay attention to them. I just don't want the full-time responsibility.

I definitely am a dog person. Cats, are God's creatures too of course who I sincerely wish love and happy homes for. I've never cared for cats at all.

Growing up until she passed away when I was 6, we had Gigi a black poodle. No dog until my early teens when God truly blessed my life and my family's with our beloved Champ, a wire hair fox terrier.

Dad and I, God willing, should we ever be ablw to move sonewhere a little bigger with private outdoor space would consider adopting a rescue pup. I would definitely enjoy looking into volunteering with dogs ideally also in some way with kids one day.

Thank you all for the loving homes you give all your pets.

I am not a dog person or a cat or fish person. I am a keeper of parrots and budgies. I kept them safe from the adversities outside my walls. They kept me sane. Win-win.

6

- Jewel, chocolate lab.
- Zoey, chocolate lab/beagle mix.
- Summer, lab/dalmatian mix
- Sophie, Bernese Mountain dog.
- Guinevere, Bernese Mountain dog.

Now, I have Nessa the 6 month old Bernese Mountain dog puppy.

Love, love, love dogs.

I put 14-15 but it could be more than that. I can't remember ever not having a dog. We currently have three.

I have also fostered anywhere from 50-75 over the course of the past 10 years. Puppies to seniors. Some we had for just a few nights. The longest fosters being several months.
