I know, I know, I should have done this poll yesterday since the final day of everything was Sunday. Even though many of us don’t go on the Liberty Belle & explore Tom Sawyer Island each trip, there is an overall sadness about everything being taken away. Some of us may even be downright angry and upset about it. If it’s been eons since you rode the Liberty Belle & explore Tom Sawyer Island and you’d like to in the comfort of your home, there’s so many streams you can watch from Sunday. I’m a big ResortTV1 fan and here’s their stream that I watched on Sunday

It was amazing on Sunday when a rainbow appeared - it made for some beautiful pictures and videos

So, let’s discuss how we feel about the Liberty Belle, Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island leaving to make way for Cars. For those that don’t know….the map on the app has been updated to no longer show the Liberty Belle, Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island.

So share with us today…….

How do you feel about the Liberty Belle, Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island leaving?
Which of the 3 will you miss the most?
(multiple choice)

For Me…….I confess that we didn’t ride the Liberty Belle and explore Tom Sawyer Island until this year and I started going to WDW in 1976 when I was 5 years old. Every trip we said we should do these things and it never happened. I’m so…..glad that I put my foot down and told myself and my family that we are sacrificing doing certain other things to ride the Liberty Belle and explore Tom Sawyer Island, and I’m glad we did. Truthfully, if this wasn’t leaving, we probably wouldn’t do them again - they just aren’t for us. BUT….I am sad about them leaving because I love looking at it all. I love walking along the Rivers of America, I love seeing the Liberty Belle and I love waving to people on the Liberty Belle as it passes by. I’m trying to keep an open mind about everything going away to make way for Cars. I was very closed minded to Journey of Water opening in EPCOT and now that it’s complete I absolutely love it! So, how did I vote? I voted that it makes me sad and I’ll miss The Rivers of America and The Liberty Belle the most.

I’m very sad I used to ride liberty Bell and I love walking along rivers of America I used to do it every trip well at least every trip to liberty Bell was running but I did walk along river of America all the time I’m gonna miss it a lot it’s really kind of sad to me
I’m still trying to get used to journey water thing at Epcot I’m not there yet I’m working on it Some of the changes there I like a lot and some of them I don’t care for one bit so I’m working on it I imagine it will be the same when they get done with The magic Kingdom
DISNEY has done other changes and I have been perfectly fine with them thought that they were great and amazing but as of late not so much ymmv It’s probably just me but some things I’m just not happy with
So I’m hopeful that Carsland Will be amazing

This saddens me. The Liberty Bell was one of my favorite rides. I was in Disney in early March and took a ride on it twice knowing that it would be gone before I got back down again. I got some great pics along the way but I will miss it.

So, no poll options for being excited about the new stuff? I mean, sure I'll miss this stuff but also the new stuff looks great. Sometimes things have to change. It's okay.

I haven't been to TSI since my kids were young.....and that was a loooong time ago. I don't think they grand kids have ever been (at WDW, they have at DLR).
I won't miss it.
I will miss the river, just because it was nice to have water in the middle of the park.
Liberty Belle.....it has been awhile for that one. Last time DD and I were the only ones on it.

The latest concept art shows that a good portion of the water will remain, from about where the Liberty Belle docks now to around the corner to Tiana's. The back side of the river will be filled in. The actual final version of course could differ somewhat, but there will still be some water along the current Frontierland path.

I voted I have no feelings, and other.

I am fine with this valuable real estate that was barely used by guests to bring something that lots of guests will love! and to give Frontierland more purpose as it will feel connected in that area. I did both last month, and have done Liberty Belle a few times since the announcement but rarely did before.

My other vote was because the only thing I will miss is the views of the river and boat from land. Hopefully the new rendering showing water will come to fruition and we will have beautiful (different) views.

I hope that also includes in front of the HM, since it’s supposed to be inspired by the Hudson River mansions. In fact, the whole of Liberty Square in that area is themed to a seafaring town and without the river, the theming makes no sense. Piston Peak should have gone in DHS to compliment TSL, where it would have blended better. This is change for the sake of change, not change to improve the experience in MK.

I am angry and sad that they are taking an IP and randomly sticking it in the park where it doesn’t belong, and destroying a beautiful and well themed part of the park while doing so. No more sitting at Aunt Polly’s, sipping a cold drink and taking photos like this . . .

We've been on the Liberty Belle many times. It is a good way to pass some time while waiting for something else. I dragged my sister and sister-in-law through Tom Sawyer's Island last August. I knew that it was closing soon and wanted them to experience it. The island is a fun thing to explore when you have kids. The sisters weren't that impressed by it. But I enjoyed it.

I think new rides that will replace them will be fantastic. I saw Cars Land in Disneyland and I will be excited to see something similar in WDW.

My sadness comes from knowing it's a great attraction for "older folks" who can't do the exhilarating rides anymore. I pushed my mom in the wheelchair many times over the years!!! It was relaxing, beautiful scenery and something she enjoyed!

Tom Sawyer's Island was fun for my kids during their first 2/3 trips. They enjoyed ii plenty. Me, I liked the raft ride over to the island best.

I would go on the LB or with or without my parents simply because it was stepping into another era.

The lack of water will make MK feel like Hollywood Studios; just an ugly sprawl of concrete.

Also, what is Liberty Square at this point? A couple restaurants and the Hall of Presidents?

While they look nice, I'm much more excited about the new Cars area.

And Haunted Mansion.

The concept art looks like there will be trees and water separating Liberty Square from the new land. We'll have to see what happens, but I think it will look ok.

Don’t think I ever rode on the Liberty Belle, but visited Tom Sawyer Island a number of times, as a child and an adult. DS especially liked the mine and caves, and it was a nice quiet break from the park.

I’m sad in the sense of losing a nostalgic part of Disney history, with a personal connection to Walt. However, I understand the need to innovate and update over time with fresh ideas, and expect Piston Peak to be a well-done addition to Frontierland.

Never rode Liberty Belle and hadn't been on Tom Sawyer's Island in many years, since when our kids were little, so I won't miss either of those. I suppose I agree with those who say they'll miss the river (a little) for the ambiance.

I think what I will miss most is the whole general area, and how it made me feel when i eventually came upon it. It gave me sort of a relaxing feeling, a place where you could just take a deep, slow breath and feel everything was going to be ok.

53 years is a very good run. Some of the Las Vegas hotels & casinos don’t even last that long. Plus there’s been a ton of security issues in Rivers of America & Tom Sawyer Island. TBH, won’t miss it.

Pretty excited for Piston Peak because Cars Land aka Radiator Springs is really awesome theming wise. Piston Peak won’t disappoint. Plus it will tie in well with the new Lakeshore Lodge. Also looking forward to the new Monsters Inc land as well along with Muppets taking over Aerosmith RnR.

For Disney World to stay relevant, they have to adapt and change. Otherwise things get stale and consumers will move on elsewhere.
