There’s nothing like your own bed and there’s nothing like your side of the bed. For different reasons, many of us can’t have our normal side of the bed and then it’s hard to sleep for a few nights, because you aren’t used to it. So let’s get our Zzzzzzs on and talk about which side of the bed we sleep on.

Looking at the picture below……

Which side of the bed do you normally sleep on?
When you travel, do you keep that side, or do you sometimes have to switch it?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I’m on the right at home. I sometimes have to change that when we travel because my DH requires the side table and outlet for his CPAP machine. If I can stay on the right side then that’s a win, if not, then I’ll adjust. I am a creature of habit, so I do sleep best on the right side. My reason for the right side at home, is because it’s closer to the bedroom door - momma has to hear what’s going on with the kiddos. Nothing makes me jump out of bed, and dash out the door faster than a sick child or a sick dog. We’re empty nesters now, so that side doesn’t matter anymore, but that was the reason why I choose that side when we moved into this house.

CPAP also, so I need it to be to my right. I can sleep on the left, but run the risk of pulling out the CPAP tubing when I do so.

I like to sleep on my right side, so I sleep on the left side of the bed. I can't think of a time when I needed to deviate from that position.

Right side almost entire married life
Now middle towards right side
When traveling it was usually almost always right side unless there wasn’t an outlet for the CPAP machine ( ex ) then I would have to do the left side
In every house we had right side was not closest to the door which wouldn’t matter anyway because once I’m asleep I don’t hear anything you could like blow the house up and I wouldn’t hear it - so if somebody needed me they would have to come wake me up the flipside of it is I have a hard time falling asleep and I’m usually up most of the night but once I am asleep I just don’t hear anything until my alarm goes off

I sleep on my right side usually on the left side of the bed. My DH sleeps on his back in his mancave on a recliner because of back issues.

Right side of the bed......always. DH doesn't change and he has a CPAP machine. Extension cords travel with us.

Right side at home. Usually the same when we travel, but occasionally, we'll change it up, if my wife decides she wants that side of the bed wherever we're staying.

I saw May 15th in the title and got confused. It doesn’t take much to confuse me before my caffeine . . . :coffee:

As far as beds go, at home I sleep in a full size so slightly left of center (a full isn’t much larger than a twin). In general, I sleep on whatever side has a nightstand. In a hotel, since there are nightstands on both sides, I pick whichever side has more free outlets for plugging in my phone and tablet before sleeping.

Based on your picture here, the left side. In my mind, that's the right side. CPAP user here here also. That side is the easiest for me with the CPAP. Before using, I was that side forever so no changes then.

Agreed. If looking at the bed from the bottom, I sleep on the left, but when I’m in bed, I’m on the right and DH is on my left.

Away from home, in a hotel, I always pick the side closest to the bathroom. It doesn’t affect my sleep (or his); either way is fine. If I’m alone (when DH or I traveled for work), I move the pillows and sleep right in the middle.

DH gets whichever side is closer to the bathroom or easiest to get out of bed. Some of the beds at disney that are 1/2 inch from the wall would doom DH trying to get bathroom.

My bed only has one side - the Cat's! If I'm good, she might let me have a corner of it. 😁
Same here - except with our dachshund :rotfl2:

I live on my own and can sleep on any side of the bed, but I always sleep on the left side. I tend to sleep on whichever side of the bed is furthest away from the door, although I'm not fussy and can happily sleep wherever when I go away.

I sleep on the left at home. When traveling together, I will change sides as needed so DH can have the nightstand for his CPAP.
