As a kid I used to like taking a chunk of my mom's baking chocolate if it was out on the counter. Very bitter, but I liked it. Not a lot, just a little. Have not had in many years.
I love dark chocolate! I don’t even like milk chocolate anymore.
I usually keep a bag of Ghirardelli dark chocolate sea salt caramel squares in my desk at work.
I buy Divine 70% dark chocolate bars by the case online, often with 20% discounts they send me. I usually have about 1/5 of the sharing size bar after dinner (about 100 calories). It has a very rich smooth feel. I don't like milk chocolate much.
Dark Chocolate is 100% because there's NO SUGAR and anything less should be LESS than Dark by % so a 75% dark chocolate would be Less than Dark by 25%-- way too much sugar as is 90%
We've been buying the 2LB bag of Bouchard 72% cacao Dark Belgian Chocolate at Costco. It's a good balance with just enough sweetness and the smoothness of quality chocolate (not sugary). The bite size pieces are individually wrapped and are 28 calories apiece.
I like dark chocolate especially the artisan brands. I’ve tasted some really good high end chocolate on our trip to Europe. You can taste the hints of fruit depending on the region the cacao is grown.
I like dark chocolate quite a bit. I rarely have it because I have gotten out of the habit of eating stuff like that. That said, dark chocolate and cabernet sauvignon are soooo great together.
I enjoy the organic Theo salted almond 70% I get at Whole Foods, sometimes the plain ones are too sharp but this brand and the Endangered Species kind are softer on the palate by the salt and almonds. I don't have a lot of chocolate but every now and then I like it so I keep it on the fridge door shelf and your post just made me go look for it and it is gone, seems someone else in the house likes it too.
If you are trying hard to work it into your families diets try the Tru Fru where good frozen fruit is covered in chocolate, they have milk and dark chocolate options & they are outstanding.
Can EASILY do home made for a lot less money (just costs more in time and effort) by slicing up bananas and freezing on a flat surface then melting chocolate and drizzling, the frozen bananas end up sort of an ice cream consistency and the chocolate on top is another level.
I’ve worked my way up to 70% dark chocolate and really enjoy it now. Anything much higher starts getting a little too bitter for me, but I can definitely see why people love it.
