I don't use pencils but I have a number of boxes of the aforementioned Ticonderoga 2's that I've had for the grandkids earlier school work. Best there is. Abd a power pencil sharpener.

I HATE wooden pencils! I can't stand the feeling of unfinished wood (so put popsicle sticks into this same category). To me, hearing pencils being sharpened is the same thing as nails on a chalkboard!

I have some on my desk at work. I don't use them often, but occasionally I just want to the flexibility of writing and erasing whatever I'm drafting out. The eraser is usually hard and no longer works, so I also have one of those pink rectangular erasers next to it. A pencil is rarely the first writing tool I go for. An electric pencil sharpener sits under my desk, only plugged in when needed which isn't too often.
  • They are used more in my other role as disability accommodations test proctoring. When students come to test in our space they are given a pencil and scratch paper.
Somewhere at home I have packs of pencils unopened from when I taught. I just need to donate them to the school. My kids rarely use them, and when pencils are requested it's mechanical.

If I need to use a pencil, which isn't that oftent, it has to be wooden and it has to be round. I hate mechanical pencils! I write too hard and always break them. I like the feel of round ones best and have a stash of them. They are mostly only used anymore for playing D&D, which I do ocassionally.

Never use them at home. Find that a pen or thin magic marker is far more convenient for jotting notes at home, grocery list or general writing. Avoids the need for a pencil sharpener as well. Perhaps those in school might make more use of them. Always found mechanical pencils annoying since the lead would break if you didn't hold it at exactly the correct angle.

Never use them at work. Rarely at home. Mostly for my cross stitch pattern.

Curious for those that use them at work. What do you use them for?
My coworker (who did similar job to me) would come and sharpen her pencil at the work area by me. I never knew what she used the pencil for as I do 100% of my job on the computer. I do write myself some notes/to do list but I use a pen for that.

I rarely use a pencil for any purpose. The previous owner of my house installed a hand-crank pencil sharpener in the pantry area.

I mostly use a pen maybe once in a while have to use a pencil for something at home or elsewhere.

I never, ever use pencils but my adult daughter eats, lives and breathes #2 pencils. I'm in awe when she writes 100 miles an hour with them. I tried once and barely could write a sentence.

Of course, always using pens, I use a bucket load of White-out and do a lot of crossing out. :)

I do but not regular graphite. These days I enjoy adult coloring books with DH's very fancy Faber Castell pencils, I just realized how fancy they are so maybe I should get less fancy for my purposes.

I use colored pencils for crafts and art. I leave a wooden pencil or two in the car with a notepad (pens can dry out or explode in a hot car here). I usually keep one or two on my desk with a pen or two. I have a handheld sharpener that collects the shavings and has two size options so I can sharpen regular or fat pencils. Pens around the house always seem to be empty, but a pencil never is (especially since I don’t use mechanical pencils).
