With our beloved Pope Francis passing away yesterday, many people will want to watch Conclave for the first time or another time. For those that don’t know what the movie Conclave is about, here ya go……

Let’s discuss this movie today. Give me your movie review today……

Will you be watching the movie Conclave?
Will it be a first time or a second time or more?
If you’ve already seen it….what is your opinion of this movie?
(multiple choice)

For Me…….I have not seen it and I’m not planning on seeing it. There are certain things that I don’t want to have tainted for me by a fictional movie. DD21 asked me yesterday if she could rent it from Amazon Prime, because she wants to watch it due to The Conclave meeting soon to elect a new Pope. My DH took advantage of her rental yesterday and watched it again. I was at church last night, so I did not watch it with him.

I haven't seen the movie and don't plan to see it. I already suspect that there are all kinds of politics involved. If it was truly nonpolitical then there wouldn't be a prominence of popes from Italy.

I haven't seen it, however I didn't realize it was a book. I have a 12+ hour r/t drive to NC next week so maybe I'll check out the audio book. The process interests me.
That’s actually a great idea! I voted I was going to watch the movie but I do love unabridged audiobooks, which give the “full story” the author intended without time constraints or the interpretation of script writers/directors/editors.

ETA: Ha! Many great minds have apparently been thinking alike over the past day or so. I just flipped to my library app to grab it and I’m #133 in the hold line.

Don't plan on ever watching. I have listened/read to reviews from various people. Sounds offensive and if you are looking for actual history on how the conclave works, the movie will not help you.

Once it comes to a streaming platform I subscribe to, I'll probably watch it. I know my wife watched it awhile back on a flight and said she liked it.

I watched it and really enjoyed it. I didn't know if it would hold my interest, but it sure did, the story and the acting make it a top notch film.

I know my mom really wanted to watch this when it came out, but I don't think she ever did. Personally, it's not my kind of thing and I doubt I'd ever watch it.

Haven't seen and not really of interest. Any movie that is supposedly based on some historical event should not distort reality to interject the producer's bias for the sake of selling more tickets. Feel that way regardless of the subject. Movies based on fiction get a lot of leeway to tell your 'story', but using some historical event is a different matter to me.

Will I watch “Conclave” to familiarize myself with the process? No but in my lifetime many popes have been elevated and died so I’m aware of the process.

I recall a movie made in the 60’s(?) starring Anthony Quinn, Laurence Olivier and David Jansen called “The Shoes of the Fisherman” that fleshes out a similar time. The movie wasn’t really memorable from my POV but it was somewhat informative.
