I like cranberry sauce, and eat both kinds - mostly at holidays, but occasionally other times. I prefer jellied, but I think it's the predictably - It's always really good. With homemade, it's either amazing or just OK.
My BIL makes a home made cranberry-cherry sauce that is absolutely amazing. I eat it like I can’t get enough. It has whole cranberries and pieces of dried cherry in it, so it’s not a smooth texture. Unfortunately he only makes it for Thanksgiving so I get it once a year. I should ask him for the recipe . . .
I can’t stand the canned stuff after having home made, although I used to love the jelly type sauce in a can.
I only had the jellied cranberry sauce until a couple years ago when I decided to buy the whole berry and it is so much better. My mom insists "us kids" didn't like it so she only bought the jelly. But she said the same thing about real mashed potatoes. Which I of course always make from real potatoes.
Now the question is what to do with leftovers? For some reason I thought I'd need 2 cans had have an entire can leftover.
