For many of us, we have tons of photos in our phones. I’m currently in the process of going through these photos and deleting many, which is what inspired this poll today. I store all my phones with Walgreens, and I have for over 20 years. I’m going to start having my favorites printed and put on flash drives in case Walgreens ever shuts down and goes out of business. I’m going to then keep those flash drives in my house safe or safety deposit box. My photos are very organized and put into albums, so I can find photos pretty easily. My DH doesn’t do this and when he wants to find a picture, it takes so long - I could make a meal in the time it takes him to find what he’s looking for - LOL! So, as I’m sitting at work, going through my photos, I started to wonder how many photos you all have and how organized do you keep your photos :scratchin Are you like me, or my DH? Let’s find out - give us your snapshot answer today……

How many pictures do you have in your cell phone?f
Do you have them organized into albums?
(multiple choice)

For Me……As of last night, I have 4,562 photos in my phone and they are very organized into albums. They are also very organized on the Walgreens website. I’d like to get that number around 4000, so I may be going through photos again today. I hate to delete to many, because I do enjoy looking at them.

No phone, so the only photos I have are hard-copy. I do have pics that friends have taken and shared with me via FB messenger- in fact, shared pictures are why I got FB in the first place!

HOWEVER- da da ta daa... I ordered a phone thru US Cellular yesterday, and signed up for a prepaid monthly plan!! We'll see how it goes. I'm not really psyched and fear it's a total waste of money, but DH is happier that I'll have a reliable phone when I travel solo. The real reason I bit the bullet? I wanna make LLMP and LLSP plans and it's just this side of impossible to do without having the app! Wish me luck!!

I don’t have that many photos on my phone maybe a couple hundred maybe I don’t know I really don’t pay much attention to it they’re definitely not organized
I had a bunch on a computer and then I stupidly had not backed up and I lost them because the computer crashed so I’m very sad about that I was getting them organized to send them to Walgreens to get pictures done so I lost I think it was three different vacations Not happy about that at all I thought the computer was being backed up but it was not I’m still trying to find the disk from the camera that had these pictures on them I know it’s somewhere in this house I just have to find it it’s a process
I’m more like your husband you can like go bake a cake in the amount of time it takes me to find a picture but I do go through the pictures I have on my phone and delete a lot of them because I have to take some for work to send people stuff back-and-forth and that’s basically what I use my camera for

I have less than 1000. I transfer them to my computer and then put them in folders by trip or month. Then print them. Scrap book them or put them in albums.
I back them up on a separate hard drive that only has pictures on it,
Then I erase off phone and at the end of the year, off my computer.

I currently have 11007. Some are in albums, generally only those that were imported.

I like being able to look back years and also how easy they are to find by searching. The iPhone seems to do a great job of analyzing the photos for content.

For example I can search for dog and get all the photos with a dog and even the ones that have the text dog in them. It makes it easy to find pictures when I am looking for a particular photo I remember taking.

7,250 as of this morning - although that may include some videos as well. Any folders that might be in there have been generated by Apple, not me.

Your backup strategy is probably better than what 90% of the average person does!

If you don't have a backup strategy for your photos, you should think about implementing one.

Ideally, 3 copies, 2 types of media, 1 off site.

Not everyone is going to be able to implement the entire concept but part of the concept is better than none.

You don't want to end up like the South Korean government:

South Korea experienced a major data loss incident on September 26, 2025, when a fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS) data center in Daejeon destroyed approximately 858 terabytes of government data. The fire was caused by an exploding lithium-ion battery and resulted in the permanent loss of data from the government's cloud service, with recovery efforts focused on restoring recently accessed documents from limited sources.

I've got 7,076 photos in my phone currently and they're all organised into folders. This organisation is a recent development after I realised my photos were entirely disorganised and I couldn't find anything as the search is rubbish.

I've also recently downloaded all of my photos onto my current phone as I've noticed I was missing quite a few - either through my regular changes of phone or them not being uploaded to the cloud properly afterwards - so wanted to ensure I had copies kept on my phone in future. May as well utilise the large storage space!

I back my phone up to my Flickr account so that I don't have to have my storage impacted by large photos and videos. So, I delete fairly regularly and normally don't have more than a few hundred photos and vids...IF THAT! I do not organize any of it on my phone. It's automatically organized chronologically when uploaded but I MAY add titles or even throw them into a secondary album on Flickr if it's something special or with a specific purpose.

Less than 200, not much of a photographer and they certainly aren't organized. OTOH, the pics are mostly 2 categories: granddaughters and cats. Oh, and the screenshots I take putting my phone back into my pocket. ;)

This! I love the search function and the little slideshows it randomly makes me.

I have over 20,000 "items" - some photos I took, some videos, and some screenshots.

Certain things are in folders - the automatic ones and a few I made, but not everything.

I really like the convenience of always having a phone/copier with me. I have gotten lazy about albums, though. Back in the days of sending film away and getting prints, I was a big scrapbooker, and I do enjoy looking back at those books. But somehow starting the hobby back up feels a little overwhelming to me now - I think it's both the lack of external motivation (that pack of prints coming in the mail) and the sheer volume of photos to sort through now that we take them constantly.

I had absolutely no idea how many I had until I just checked... 3300. More than I figured -I don't take a lot of pictures, I kind of enjoy living in the moment and hope my memory doesn't fail me! I'm impressed with some of you folks -I'm seeing some crazy numbers
