I am not a cat person, mainly because I find it so gross that most people let them climb all over their table and counters.

You would not like my house. I keep the formal dining room table set with plate chargers and salt and pepper shakers that match the season. Our one cat, Hoosier, starts knocking plates and salt and pepper shakers off the table if he thinks we are late with his breakfast or dinner. Luckily they are metal and won't break, but it makes a terrible noise when they hit the hardwood floor.

I have had seven cats over my lifetime (66 years). Five during my married lifetime (41 years). Our last cat crossed the rainbow bridge 10 years ago this month. We agreed with the kids out of the house, and retirement coming within any future cat's lifetime, it wouldn't be fair to the cat because we intended to travel more. But yes, there are many time we miss having a cat.

We had Buddy when the kids were young. Lost in in July to Kidney disease at 16.

I am a cat person. We have 2. I have had a cat since I was 12. When I met my husband he had one and I had one so we then had 2 who both lived long lives. Now we are on the second set of cats together.

I have one gray shorthair named Polly and I’m currently catsitting two others. DD and SIL are on their honeymoon and I have Booties and Penny for 10 more days.

I love all animals, but I prefer to have a cat as a pet. They're just a little easier. I guess that makes me a "cat person." I love my Sylvian - she's a little tortie with no tail. She's willful though and has that tortitude!

I love all animals too. She’s pretty! Have 2 dogs & 2 cats. One is also a tortie! She’s not too bad attitude wise though. She’s very shy but not grumpy lol.

Oh, mine's a sweetie, but she is willful. Like some have talked about training their cat to not get on the table, etc. - yeah, I lost that battle early with her! She is actually very much a people-cat though. She loves people, but hates other animals. She is a snuggle-bug, especially now that the weather is getting cooler. She does have some claws on her though and is feisty when she wants to be!

Our cats aren't allowed on the counters or table, and they've been really good about not getting onto either once they know the rule.

I’m a cat person, definitely. I’ve had 9 in my lifetime. The first group of 5 consisted of a sibling pair and two others who were acquired all within the same year as kittens, and then another adult stray who showed up on my porch demanding to live with us a few years later. When the last of that group was in his final months, we adopted the next group of four and having cat companions around again really perked him up! We brought in a mom and two of her kittens, plus another bonus kitten who was so cute I just had to have her. She’s turned out to be the baddest little cat I’ve ever known.

I'm not a cat person. I don't hate them, just have no desire to have one. I'm a dog person in a family of dog people, we've had dogs since I was 4.
We did have a cat briefly at some point before that. I don't remember her. She "ran away" (aka got hit by the mail truck, as my sisters and I found out years later).

Yeah I don’t bother with all that lol. I’ve never seen her on counters ftr. She doesn’t care for the dogs much though but gets along with my other cat. But I inherited her after my dad passed away & he didn’t have any dogs so she’s not too keen on them although she’s lived with them now about 3 years. My dogs are allowed on the sofa & beds too. I actually have a leather sectional that I purchased with the 90 lb golden retriever in mind . My other cat is a ragdoll & is way too lazy to climb on counters. And, in all this, my child is still the messiest in the house!

Silvian doesn't get on counters really, but she does the table. There is a blanket up ther efor her to lay on and stare out the window. She lost her tail, so she's a little clumsy for a cat and doesn't deign to make the jump to the countertops. She's not big on perching in high places, possibly because of that.

I've volunteered at a couple of animal shelters in my lifetime, but I'm always uncomfortable if asked to handle cats. I was being trained to do the weekend news segments and the girl mentoring me wanted me to handle a notorious Persian that was up for adoption. The Persian wound up biting the mentor several times and it sort of reinforced my cat feelings. I've met some nice ones and would even cat-sit for a couple of friends with cats back in my 20s. I still can't see myself ever owning one and I'm sure it stems from my childhood. My paternal grandparents had quite the menagerie of animals, including a couple of cats. One of them was rather ornery and clawed the daylights out of me when I was a little girl. Long story, but it soured me on domestic felines. It may even be tied to why I don't like small dogs (the larger, the better). I joke that small canines are just barking cats!

Definitely a cat person. I have 2, currently. Over my lifetime, I have had 7 others, plus a ton of strays we have taken care of.

My cats are my therapy and I adore them!

Me, too. I miss all our many kitties. But my sister, next door now has two kittens and a 5 year old cat. The 5 yr old comes over all the time which I love.
