I'm not a fan of traditional birthday cake. For my birthday I request a German Chocolate Cake (don't always get it cause it's a pain to make).

It has never occurred to me but I probably wouldn't do it. If it was just me, maybe, but it would be too much temptation for my diabetic husband.

No, it never occurred to me. My mom makes me a cake (or dessert of my choice) every year for my actual birthday and they are typically unusual flavors - peaches and cream, mint chip, pistachio, etc. She's very good at baking, but not so good at decorating. The birthday cakes they have in stores don't measure up to a custom, usually ugly, cake made with lots of love.

I have purchased or made cakes when it was no one's birthday, but always for events and with the plan that my roommates would eat more of it than me. When I was much younger and thinner, I would occasionally but one of those individual slices of cake at the market and eat it over a few days.

Not cake but my favorite Bakery has not fancy basic cupcakes that are their "cake" & icing that I have stopped in a got one. It's a great treat.

I'm not a fan of store bought "Birthday Cakes." The cake itself usually doesn't have much flavor and the frosting is ultra sweet.

Almost any other type of cake from a bakery is good, but not "Birthday Cake."

Our local grocery store makes the best cake and buttercream frosting. Most of our family loves them, but I do only buy them on birthdays and anniversaries. It's way too tempting fo rme to have around the house at any other time :)

Publix makes these great mini cakes, that would serve at best 6 people. They are the perfect size when I am craving birthday cake. They also sell individual slices of cake as well. I probably buy a mini cake 2-3 times a year.

😂😂 No, but seriously… what are people talking about when they say “birthday cake?” Is it white cake with vanilla buttercream?

To me “birthday cake” isn’t a flavor. It’s whatever flavor you choose to celebrate a birthday — and if there’s not a birthday, then it’s just cake! But some people are saying (paraphrasing), “I like cake, but not birthday cake. I always get (another kind of cake).” I think white cake with buttercream is probably the most common grocery store flavor combo, so I’m guessing that’s it… but inquiring minds want to know!

That's what I think of as "birthday cake" - those sheet cakes with buttercream frosting. I've seen "birthday cake" flavored products that aren't cake, so I think it is kind of considered a flavor.

Just once. I was turning 22 years old and worked with a group in which everyone brought a cake in on their birthday.

I voted other - it's only birthday cake if it is my birthday. Otherwise it's just cake-
Sure - I like cake, so I get some, but I don't call it birthday cake!
