I love pancakes but they are definitely special occasion food. If I make them at home, I always add fruit (blueberries ,strawberries, or banana nut) to pretend that they're a little healthier.

My real pet peeve is syrup. If it isn't maple syrup it's garbage to me. When we go in vacations I have a mini bottle of maple syrup I keep in my purse just in case we get pancakes/waffles. If I can't have them with maple syrup, not even worth ordering.

I love pancakes! I put butter on them and only a little syrup because I don't like things that are super sweet.

I make protein Kodiak protein pancakes and freeze them. Then I can just pop them in the microwave or toaster and eat them.

I will eat "real" pancakes after races or the day before an Ironman so I can load up on calories for the race the next day.

I love all the pancakes!

I used to make Mickey Mouse pancakes for DS when he was little. - I would add cocoa powder to some of the batter to make the ears. My current favorite is "Plymouth County Pancakes" (with cranberries and walnuts in the batter!)

I like them a little. I use real maple syrup. When I go out to eat for breakfast I get the Ferry Special, one pancake, one egg and one sausage link.

DH likes and makes blueberry pancakes, and then I will have more than one, but pancakes are not a favorite breakfast food for me.

Last thing. There were two great restaurants to get crepes in NYC and I can’t recall the names but one had the waitresses wear a Breton headdress which must have been uncomfortable. Both gone, sigh.
This just brought back a memory. I remember a crepe place in the Lower Village that we'd go to quite a bit. I can't remember the name, but I remember going there late night and sitting at their outside tables. That had to be a good 25+ years ago.

I also remember a place on the East Side that had silver dollar pancakes. Yum!

Pancakes are a rare treat. Always with REAL maple syrup. But I'm diabetic.

I think they're just okay. I eat them if we're having 'breakfast for dinner' every once in a while. Not my first choice in breakfast foods.

I like pancakes but prefer the texture of waffles.
We have a waffle maker but only use it occasionally.
Unfortunately when going to a restaurant not that many have waffles (there are no Waffle House locations near me or I'd be going there all the time)
I do like specialty pancakes and they tend to have a bit of a different texture than regular pancakes so its better.
I'm addicted to maple syrup so I use a lot lol.

Like to occasionally eat them at home for breakfast. Never order them in a restaurant since they are always ENORMOUS and enough food to feed 3 people. I assume they aren't expensive to make, so these gigantic portions are a way to charge more.

Plain with just a squeeze of lemon juice.

ford family
My mom used to use cinnamon applesauce on hers instead of syrup!

When I was in college I used to stack the pancakes with layers of Nutella in between, then slice it like a cake 🤣

Actually forgot to add that growing up, a FAVORITE dinner meal was pancakes and gravy -- usually leftover turkey gravy from holiday meals. Can't remember the last time I had that. Mmmmmm......😋

I have always liked pancakes. They were one of the first foods I learned to make when my age was still in single digits. I don’t have them very often these days though.

The only ones I like are dollar pancakes. They are smaller and thinner. I am more likely to order french toast or a waffle if I don't do eggs when out for breakfast. At home it is french toast or eggs.

I love pancakes, but very rarely eat them, too many carbs and calories. [. . .]
I use no sugar added syrup

Try Kodiak Cakes High Protein Pancake & Waffle mix. 15 grams of protein per serving. Double the net carbs at 30 grams as fiber is 5 grams. Also making it with milk and eggs adds even more protein. So, it's a higher protein pancake in terms of the ratio to carbs, but not really much less carbs than a Bisquick pancake.

I also use Cary's sugar-free syrup with it. It's recommended by the American Diabetics Association. :thumbsup2

Thanks, I have tried that. Not as good as the ones I like, so I just do French toast.
I make DH oatmeal pancakes from a Reversing Diabetes cookbook.....but I don't really care for those either.

30 grams of carbs is way more than I want for a pancake

I hear you. I add in extra vanilla and cinnamon to the pancakes to boost the flavor. Also making it with milk and eggs adds even more protein.

The 30 grams of carbs is for 2-4 pancakes depending on the size, or a 1/2 cup of batter.
