I should specify that when I think ice cream cake, I think Carvel...and not the supermarket freezer section cakes. Their "crunchies" gave the cakes such great texture but they seem to be soggy/mushy in the mass produced ones. What I would do for a bite of Cookie Puss or Fudgie the Whale!

Our closest carvel is less than a mile away, every Father’s Day means my husband is getting fudgy the whale!

I can't believe I'm in such a small # of people who've never had ice cream cake. Two of my favorite things-ice cream (I was recently in a weight loss class-when they asked our weakness, I said ice cream) and cake. After 73 years, this has to be corrected!

I really like ice cream cake, but not the kind that has actual cake in it. I remember my Mom would always take me to Carvel when I was young to pick out my ice cream cake. The last one I remember had Wilma Flintstone on it. We don't have a Carvel or DQ near us so we end up buying Carvel ice cream cakes from a grocery store. I will be enjoying one next week for my birthday and then again in September for my husbands birthday.

My family likes them. I just had one a couple weeks ago. Don’t think I’ve ever had one made with actual cake, but I’d like that too. We always get them from Carvel or Friendly’s.

Ice cream cake (DQ version) has been the preferred birthday treat for DGDs, though one has recently switched to a cookie cake. I like ice cream cake a lot, but I didn't vote "love" because that is reserved for an actual delicious cake with quality ice cream on it.:cake:

Happy Birthday to your daughter @slo ! My daughter is also a Katie and she only likes ice cream cake for her December birthday. She likes the all ice cream one from DQ.

Yes! Happy Birthday to Katie! Ice cream cakes were the birthday cakes in our family when the kids were growing up. I went to get an ice cream cake a couple of years ago and was stunned how much it costs now. So, I spent about $10 on two quarts of ice cream, a pack of sandwich cookies, and a jar of fudge topping and made it myself. It was pretty easy to do with a springform pan. I also used heavy cream and powdered sugar to make icing for it. I usually make two ice cream cakes a year. :cake:
