So…..I sit down this morning, turn on the news, and they are talking about World Emoji Day (there’s a day for everything. How does someone start a day? I think I should start a day for something - LOL). Naturally, I instantly thought that this would be a good topic for today’s poll. So, I’m gonna keep it simple and ask…..

For Me……I do enjoy using emojis and DIS smilies. I use emojis everyday in text messages, Facebook posts & Instagram posts. I do use DIS smilies on a regular basis. My favorites are….

Social media and texts, mostly. Outlook (work) has recently allowed emoji reactions to emails. I occasionally use them, but I'm a pretty formal emailer, so it feels weird.

Use them. I think they are very helpful to convey context. I might type snark or sarcasm, sometimes an emoji can tell reader I'm kidding, I'm serious, I'm actually rolling my eyes, I love something even if I'm not gushing about it. And they can't see my face which more often than not conveys my context.

Don't use them and even on the rare occasion I might text someone, find them annoying to pick out the right one (many look the same on a tiny phone screen) or not offend someone..............LOL. Texting on my tiny phone keyboard is frustrating, auto spell often inserts the wrong word and have to proof read before sending. I generally want to throw the phone across the room by the time I finish sending the text message.

I use them all the time, on here and in texts especially although I only tend to use them to express emotions/feelings/thoughts rather than replacing words.

I do use them at work too, sometimes in emails although not often as sadly I have a fairly senior job where for the most part I need to be professional. However emojis get used very frequently on MS Teams at work, the banging head on a wall is a particular favourite
