Pretty sure I've never seen one. I used to work with a woman who hated Groundhog Day (the event, not the movie) and thought it was the stupidest thing ever. At the time I thought she was a bit of a kill-joy, but now I'm thinking she was right. Sure there's Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, but you get candy & toys when they arrive. Whaddaya get on Groundhog Day? Dudes in 19th century apparel, a highly inaccurate forecast, and a wild animal that sure doesn't look like he's enjoying one bit of it!

Well, either outcome on Groundhog Day would actually be a gift to us here. Spring's coming early? Bring it!! 6 more weeks of winter? Only 6 more weeks of winter? Spring's still comin' early, baby!!

The only burrowing creatures I can think of that we have in south Florida are cane toads that are poisonous and burrowing owls which are super cute and I had one standing on the street right in front of my house when I got home. There are a protected species and I wouldn’t mind if they made a burrow in my yard as I would protect them.

Ah - the suburban lawn-pig. Used to see them frequently in NH. Seen 1 or 2 since moving to SC.

I haven't yet seen one in my backyard here, but a fellow resident of the community has one show up on a regular basis.
