I think I did a poll on this a lonnnnngggggg time ago, so I’m going to revisit this topic for anyone new joining us and because I’m genuinely curious how people feel about this in 2025. Why am I curious? Why do I care? Because the Burger Kings by me are always so slow - never many people there. This has peaked my interest so much, that I make a conscious effort to take a glance at Burger Kings when I drive by. McDonald’s - jammed. Chick Fil A - double long lines. Culver’s - triple long lines. Portillo’s - wrapped around the building. Burger King - maybe a car, but many times it’s a ghost town - I don’t know how they stay in business. I have both a Burger King and McDonald’s that’s walking distance from my house so I see our town ones all the time, and you couldn’t pay me to get food at the Burger King - I’d be a afraid the food is old due to them having such little business. Before we get to the poll questions, here’s the difference between McDonalds and Burger King. I’m sure many already know this, but here it is anyway…..

For Me…..As I mentioned above, the more popular place in my area is McDonald’s. I don’t have a favorite place in regards to McDonald’s and Burger King - I don’t eat at both of them. If I was desperate, and starving, and my only two options are McDonald’s and Burger King, I will always pick McDonald’s. I actually haven’t had a McDonald’s lunch or dinner sandwich since January 2019 and Burger King longer than that. When DD22 was still playing travel softball, I did have an Egg McMuffin one morning for breakfast, because there was no Dunkin close to us to us to have their breakfast sandwich. We aren’t big fast food eaters, so we honestly don’t go to many places.

When I was a kid, I loved McDonald’s. We went often.
As an adult I want and crave Whoppers all the time.

But I haven’t been to either places in probably over a year.

The McDonald’s are always busy.
Burger Kings are usually empty. But their food is always hot and fresh when I do go.

Many Burger Kings around us have closed lately. McDonald’s seems to be going strong, though. If those are the two choices, I prefer McDonald’s.

I don't go to either very often, but over the years I have had generally worse experience at BK even though theoretically their burgers are better. McD's though, while decidedly nothing special, delivers consistency, plus their fries are much better! Every so often, I might grab a little McD's but never even think about BK.

Haven't been to Burger King in years. Weren't they the ones who would pre-cook the burgers and then rewarm them in a microwave when you placed your order? Don't care for either burger with all of those gloppy toppings and cheap buns. McDonald's has a store across from the parking lot of the grocery store I typically shop at. Their chicken strips/tenders are about the only thing I ever buy. Have no idea which of the two gets more business, but there is always a line of cars at the Starbucks next door I assume buying those pricey/fancy coffee drinks.

I will eat McDonald’s I love McDonald’s and I will eat just about anything then eat at Burger King I do not care for them and I never have and it seems that nobody in town does either because they’re never busy and I agree I don’t know how they stay in business And actually I don’t know anybody that likes them

Haven't been to McDonald's in years.
We do get Burger King fairy often.....they have good coupons. Love the Whopper.
No idea which has more people.

Both chains operate here but there are probably 3-to-1 more McDonalds. DH gets McMuffins at least once a week but I can’t remember the last time we stopped at a Burger King. I’d never go to either of them; I’m not a burger person but if burgers were the only choice I’d find an A&W.

I go to McDonald's more often, but only because they have more convenient locations. There's a McDonald's a little over a mile from my work, so I can hit that one up for lunch on occasion. Still only once a month or less. I don't even know where the nearest BK is.

McDonald's has more business than Burger King. I voted that I don't eat fast food anymore. But I will eat fast food when traveling or similar occasions.

The Burger King in my town closed a few years ago, but I don’t think it was because of lack of customers. I heard the franchise owner didn’t want to invest the money to remodel, so the company closed it. It didn’t need to be remodeled in my opinion, it was fine just the way it was.

I tend to go to McDonalds more often than Burger King. I do like the flame grilled burgers at Burger King but generally like the sandwich choices at McDonalds better. And McD fries are better. Usually when I do the weekly grocery shopping I will get lunch out and most times choose McD, love their fish sandwich so get that sometimes but mostly choose the $5 value meal, the chicken sandwich, 4-piece nuggets with sweet and sour sauce, small fries and small Coke Zero. It’s my weekly treat for doing the shopping

I live in the country so there isn't anything by me except the houses in our subdivision and hay fields. But, further on down the road about 15 miles away at the interstate there is both. McDonald's does seem more busy but in their defense where the BK is situated at the exit makes it a little less visible. I eat a both depending on what I'm in the mood for. After I go to the doctor every 3 to 6 months, I usually stop by McDonald's for an egg mcmuffin, that's my congratulations you are still alive celebration. There are days when hubby and I can't figure out what we want for supper so in the truck we hop and if we are getting hamburgers it's usually McDonald's just because it's a tad closer. I actually prefer BK hamburgers but don't like their fries. For some reason the ones in our area have decided they need to put some sort of coating on them. I do like their onion rings though.

Most of our Burger Kings have closed. We do still have one but I haven't been in years due to intolerances. I did try a few things that should have been safe but ended up not. I rarely see cars there except maybe around dinner time. McDonalds is my go to so it becomes a joke to DH. I mostly only go while traveling or late coming home. So it's maybe quarterly that I stop.

I don't eat much fast food, but if I had to pick between just these two, Burger King is the clear winner. While McDonalds was king when I was young for their novelty angles, I don't really like their food. The only big knock I have against Burger King is that they changed their fries a while back and I'm not as much of a fan. McDonalds also changed their fries though and they aren't nearly as good as they once were either.

I think we have two McDonalds locations to one Burger King, but they are not the most popular burger places here. Whataburger is king!!! We also feel their fries are vastly superior to all other options. We have just as many Whataburgers as we have McDonalds. Same goes for Sonic and Wendy's. Culvers is very very popular (and for good reason) and Freddy's also has a following (don't love them). DQ is just a southern staple, but not as high on everyone's lists. Carl's Jr. has some locations around but I think the consensus is they're gross. In-N-Out is also growing in our area but you are either team Whataburger or Team In-N-Out. I am team Whataburger and do not understand the love and adoration for In-N-Out. I had it once and don't need to repeat that experience. I might even pick McDonalds over them simply for the variety and better fries. There are some Checkers but I ate there long ago and not a fan. You start getting into things like Five Guys, Smashburger, etc. and I think you're talking about a more elevated burger experience and not necessarily direct competition for BK and McDs.

Def more McDonald's around me, although I seldom go there--maybe once or twice a year? I've lived in several different parts of the US, and the only place where BK was dominant was Florida.

We cruise out of Port Canaveral so it's Off Ship @ 7am and directly to McD's for a sausage Egg McMuf for DW and Lg coffee + sausage Egg McMuf + Hot Cakes for me. Since driving requires more energy than sleeping (DW's job), I chow down. If it was a later in the day meal, Whopper or Chicken Sandwich.

p.s. - During the Marathon when I participated in WDW's Marathon Weekend I would leave the Osceola Pkwy section shortly after mile 15 and go to the McD's by the All Star's entrance. Get on line, order a M&M McFlurry and return to the race eating my McFlurry.

McFlurry John (me) misses those days.

The fact that my small town has 2 McDonald’s vs one Burger King says it all. Plus you have to want to go to BK because it isn’t near any major shopping areas.
