Canned soup is a good way to fill your belly when you’re hungry, warm you up when you’re cold and to cook with. There’s so many varieties out there, and a flavor for everyone. They aren’t the most healthy for you, but let’s face it, many of us eat things that aren’t the most healthy for us. Give us your thoughts today on canned soup…….

Do you eat canned soup?
If yes….. do you eat the soup warmed up out of the can, cook with it or both?
How many different brands do you buy?
(multiple-choice)

*Please post the brands that you buy, and if there’s any wonderful flavors that you enjoy eating just to eat, or something that works well to cook with, please post your answers so all of us can try it - thank you.

For Me…… I enjoy canned soup and I eat it for lunch and I also cook with it. I don’t buy too many different brands. The one that I eat for lunch (I’ll be eating it today, which is what inspired this poll) is Progresso Light Creamy Chicken Noodle. The other soups I buy, are to cook with, and I’ll buy Campbell’s or generic store brand (whichever is on sale). So I buy 4 different brands - 2 of those being generic store brand

Every Sunday night in the colder months is soup night, and yes sometimes that means a can. I also occasionally cook with it like the cream of mushroom chicken bake we had the other night.

I cook with it mostly.....Campbell's and store brand cream of mushroom and cream of chicken.
I do by cans to eat but mostly for travel to the Disney parks. I will be getting several when I place our order next week. In a studio with very small refrigerator and only a microwave, it is the easiest way to go.
Progresso, Campbell's Chunky

Yes I buy and eat canned soup... I am a soup fan in general, so it's perfect for me. For some dishes/casseroles I will use it as an ingredient (cream of chicken or mushroom), but I usually use canned soup just to eat for a meal.

As far as brands go, I will buy Campbells, Progresso, something Aldi is selling (some German name) and I will buy the generic store brands sometimes.

I occasionally eat canned soup. (Would probably have it more if weren't for all that salt...or the higher cost of the lower sodium ones.)

I'm not loyal to one particular brand. Right now I think I have on hand Snow's clam chowder, Progresso split pea, and Rao's Italian wedding, plus a
Campbell's Heathy Request cream of mushroom (to make the pea casserole DH loves instead of the green bean one.)

Campbell’s Chunky, Homemade (Is a Campbell’s brand), and store brand.

We eat the first two, and cook with store brands generally.

Dad and I daily share a can of Campbell's Chicken Broth at lunch. Dad sometimes will get himself clam chowder or another heartier choice.

I am not a big soup fan and never buy canned soup. If we have it I make from scratch and I won’t make any recipe that requires a cream of soup. Processed soups esp cream of soups are on my no buy list per my oncologist. The cancer I had is being tied to processed foods.

Have not touched canned soup in years - too much salt - ands who knows what else.
When I did eat them it was usually Progresso or Chunky.
I do keep several cans on hand for emergency's - they must be quite a few years old at this point.
I do recall trying the sirloin burger soup and it was nowhere near as good as I remember.
I recall the clam chowder being decent, but again have not had it in a long time.

I tend to make my own soups now. We buy roasted chicken quite often so use that to make soup and add lentils and whatever.

We'll have Campbell's, several varieties, and several flavors. Progresso likewise. We'll have in a bowl and Marie cooks with some of the Campbell's. And then also, homemade.

My brand is Campbell's. Use the cream soups for cooking, and tomato and split pea with ham and bacon for lunch in the winter.

Dh occasionally has the Low Sodium Campbell's Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup.

If I'm ever on death row and offered my last meal it will be campbells tomato soup! With that being said, I have weaned us off of canned soups for the most part in an attempt to eat healthier/cleaner. I'm a soup person though, so I make a lot of soups & stews.
I make my own broth/stock as well. I do have a can or two of soup in the pantry though...I think beef or chicken noodle.

*Full Disclosure: there will be a cream of whatever goes in it soup on my grocery list this weekend for the green bean casserole because even I recognize some things are sacrosanct:worship:

Chunky or Progresso when Publix has either of them as a BOGO. On occasion, I will eat the soup unheated as, for certain varieties, I think it tastes better. And some of them, can be used as a dip.

Usually Campbells (regular and Chunky), but often Progresso as well. I'll also buy butternut squash soup in a carton (Annie's?). I'm more for flavor than brand.

I have soup at least one day a week for lunch, and often dinner if DH is out.

Mainly I cook with it. A few casseroles call for canned soup. I like tomato bisque soup. We also keep a few cans of Chunky chicken noodle soup in the pantry. Someone will grab that if that they are not feeling well.

About a month ago I bought 4 cans of Campbell’s Chunky for $6, then 3 Progressos for $5 when Shop Rite had a good sale. Otherwise the regular prices are about $2.99 to $3.29 each.

I buy Campbell’s condensed cream of whatever and tomato soups for cooking.

But mostly my soups are homemade.

My answer is YES to practically all the poll choices in this one. I had a can of store brand chicken noodle for lunch at my desk yesterday and used a can of Campbell’s cream of celery making supper. I also noticed that DH brought home 4 cans of Chunky; it was on sale 2/$6 where he shopped yesterday.
