I love them and used to eat them all the time but now I can't eat them because they spike my glucose. Didn't realize how good I had it till diabetes came along. Wish I had known then what I know now and I probably wouldn't be in this situation.

Love them. If I didn't live in NY, I probably wouldn't eat them at all because I have never had a good bagel outside of the tri-state area. There are times I eat multiple a week and then there are times it's once a month. Just happens to be when we get to the bagel shop.

I like them, but don’t buy them often. And when I do I buy mini bagels or bagel thins. I like to put flavored cream cheese on them.

Love them. Go for months at a time without them, then usually have them several mornings at WDW.

I usually have a bag of bagel thins in the freezer with everything seasoning. Sometimes I’ll have two in one week, then I don’t eat them for the next month or so. Always with a light cream cheese 🥯.

I love bagels, but I eat them more as a treat. While I can get "acceptable" bagels here, it's nothing like the bagels we used to get when we lived in NJ. So, it's easier to resist. I could make them, but it's not something I enjoy making from scratch.

Good or average...when I do have a bagel...it needs to be toasted. I can't wrap my head around eating an untoasted bagel.

While I have branched out and tried other spreads and toppings, my preferred bagel has:
Plain Cream Cheese - Lox (nova over belly) - Capers - Tomato - Lettuce (Romaine) - Red Onion

As for bagel "Flavors"- plain, sesame seed, poppy seed, onion, or 'everything' are all acceptable options.

I do have bagels regularly. However, I REALLY love GOOD bagels. Not the bready kind. The kind with the crisp outside and soft inside. Like from a New York bakery.

Around here in Chicagoland, I really haven't found a good place for bagels -- @slo, if you know of a place, please let me know!

Love 'em, can't have 'em. They're not in my diet plan. If I do have one, it will be a huge treat. I like them warm with cream cheese and sometimes hot pepper jelly on top of the cream cheese, too.

We are big bagel fans at our house. I love them, but can only eat about 1/4 of a half (bariatric surgery) at one time AND they are so full of carbs, so I don't eat them very often. However, the other folks at my house sure do; we probably get 1/2 dozen a week from Bagel Central. My favorite is an everything bagel or an onion bialy, although I like a good garlic bagel occasionally. DH prefers sesame water bagels, DD loves sunflower bagels and herb bagels, and my SIL likes marble bagels. The Resident 7year Old likes the blueberry ones only, not toasted and no cream cheese. The rest of us like cream cheese on our bagels. DH is a purist and prefers plain cream cheese, but DD, SIL, and I like green olive, dill, or veggie cream cheese. Bagel Central in Bangor makes wonderful bagels, breads, pastries, etc., as well as sandwiches and hot meals, and they do the cream cheese additives (like olives or dill) in house too.

Love them! I’m from Long Island and you can
call me a bagel snob (sorry @BrianL), but with all due respect, they’re just not as good anywhere I’ve encountered outside the NY/NJ area. We only get them fresh from a bagel store (there are at least 5 within 2 miles from home). Never the packaged kind (like Lender’s or Thomas’) sold in supermarkets. I grew up eating them. Around here there were always numerous varieties, even 50+ years ago. As a kid, my family’s routine was to stop at a bagel store every Sunday morning after church.

These days, I have to watch my diet, so I eat them sparingly, but they are a guilty pleasure. Probably have one at least once a month; my current favorite is a sunflower bagel with scallion cream cheese. Yum. 😋

To clarify my statement, I don't so much have an issue with folks thinking that NYC area bagels are better than other types of bagels, but more that NYC area bagels are better than anything ever and are just so, so good and other people just don't know. It's more of an attitude than a statement regarding quality of the bagel. You can enjoy them, but you don't have to proselytise about them.

Admittedly, that's pretty standard with folks beliefs of a lot of NYC stuff ;)

I love bagels. My favorite is a toasted plain or salt bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. I also like a toasted plain bagel with peanut butter. I don’t get to have them as often as I would like though.

I think it’s because they are really good here. I’m not ever going to say come to nyc for the best bbq you’ve ever had.
