It seems like every time you go shopping, the cashier is asking you if you want to open up their store credit card - most times they offer you a discount as an incentive. Some of us will say yes, and others of us will say no. There are some perks to having certain store credit cards, which is often nice to have, but what’s not nice to have is having your credit score go down to open one. Some of us have several of these cards, and others of us do not. So tell us today……..

Do you have any store credit cards?
If yes…..do you use all of them?
How many do you have?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I do have store credit cards, but not many. I used to have a lot of them when I was younger - I was opening them all the time. Not to speak badly of my parents, but they did a terrible job teaching me about finances and being financially responsible. After I got my credit card debt under control, I closed many of these cards. Today I have Kohls, which is only used if the cashier tells me I have to so I can get the discount (some cashiers allow me to use my Chase SW, which I’m grateful for) and then it gets paid off with the next statement. I have a Home Depot card that’s only used when we make a large purchase, like our current refrigerator, so I can get the free financing for 12 or more months. I have an Amazon card that’s used for the same reason as The Home Depot card - currently our patio furniture was paid with this for the free financing for a year. Thats it - all the other ones were closed 🙂👍🏻

Now that my DD21 is an adult, she knows all about the downfall of opening to many credit cards - I’ve been teaching her about this since she was 18 years old. She understands about her credit score and how important a good credit score is. She currently has one credit card in her name, which I opened a few years ago to help build up her credit score. Every week I pay for my Aldi groceries with it and then pay it off every month. As of now, she has no desire to open up any credit cards herself. She carries our Chase SW card with her (it has her name on it) and when she needs something she uses that and pays me back. It’s a win win for both of us - she has no debt and I get the points 🙂👍🏻

I only have one credit card period. It's a AAA visa. I did have a few store ones when I was younger because some stores would give decent discounts if you used them. I always paid them off every month. Since my current credit card is a cash back card, I just use it for everything. Plus, I'm retired and have very little reason to buy much any more.

I have a furniture one used it twice years ago have not used it since - they’ll probably cancel it because I don’t use it
My target card is a debit card too dangerous for me to have a credit card for Target🤣🤣
I wouldn’t dare take out a Kohl’s credit card
No way no how !!
I have no other store credit cards
I have my DISNEY and my Southwest and I have an AMEX more than covered for any emergencies that may arise
I find it extremely irritating but after I say no thank you but they just keep pounding you to open up a credit card - having worked retail I know the workers are tasked with opening so many cards each shift - that practice needs to stop 🛑 I was harassed so bad one time at a store then I’m not going to name then I literally looked at the clerk and said if you asked me one more time I’m walking out and I’m not making a purchase here because they just would not let up ! No is No - I mean it’s the point where I finally just say to all of them because they just keep pounding no I don’t wanna save additional money today don’t want your card

I only have a LLBean store credit card, and I only buy from them on line. I don’t consider my Disney credit card a store card.

Off the top of my head, I think my wife has a Kohl’s card, a Nordstrom card and I think an Ann Taylor card. None of them are used very often.

I think that my very first credit card was a Sears card. I've had a few other store cards, but I've gotten rid of all of the store cards except a Kohl's credit card.

I have a Target red card but is a debit card. I use it to get discounted Disney gift cards. Otherwise, I just have Visa and MC cards.

I do have a Target card that I use occasionally(every other month?) and I probably have one other from way back -but who knows if it’s even active anymore. I generally just use my rewards credit cards(3 of those) that I pay off each month.

I downsized all my store credit cards to just having my Visa and AMEX.

The 1st CC I ever had was a JC Penny card.

eta (in the evening).....I just can't spell or do correct English first thing in the morning when I answer Slo's polls!!!

Dad and I have Target Red Cards that we use for the discount. After every in store purchase and within a week or two of an online order we make a full payment. Get it taken care of asap. We do have a rarely used Kohls Card also.

I have Kohls, Amazon, and REI. I use them at those locations for the cash back/rewards, but other cards for everything else.

I have one or two store cards that I use often, and several others that I’ve had for decades but rarely use. I’m down to two major credit cards, one of which is used exclusively for online purchases.

Fortunately, I’ve never had an issue with debt. I only buy what I can afford and pay the full balance each month.

No many years ago I had a Hudson Bay card and a sears card. Haven’t had anything like that in 30 years.
I just have visa and Mastercard.
My first card was a sears card. So proud getting that card.

I voted other, I have a card through BJS but can use it anywhere.

Way back when, many stores did not accept Master Card and Visa and I got several store credit cards. Then when the stores did accept MC and Visa I stopped using the store cards and most of them expired. Every so often nowadays a store offers a discount or a rebate for opening or using their credit card so I may get one. Then stop using it until if an when they offer a new one time or whatever promotion or discount for existing cardholders.

At one time Home Depot allowed someone to get three credit cards. I got two just to take advantage of the sign on bonus but chose not to open a (the) third.

I used to have a Sears card and a Neiman Marcus card (quite a combo), but more. The closest thing I have these days are major credit cards tied to stores. So, like a Mastercard with some Kroger advantages.

I have two store credit cards but I never use them. I also have three regular credit cards that I use, but pay off the balance monthly; one of them I have had for over 50 years.
