DD and SIL having a gathering tonight. I don’t know if you’d call it a party. DH and I will go for a while but will leave well before midnight.

Tomorrow DH’s sister hosts her annual NYD get together in mid afternoon to early evening.

No plans...the flu has wreaked havoc in my household since December 16th. My little Godson went into the hospital with flu complications and is still recovering (he's home now.) My aunt's flu turned into Pneumonia and she went into the hospital the day after Christmas and just came home two days ago, with oxygen. I had to go to urgent care yesterday because of pain in my left ear, which turned out to be an abscess caused by the flu, that I'm now treating with antibiotics. If I don't improve in a few days *I'm* supposed to go to the hospital. Sheesh!!

So yeah, I'll be staying home and looking after my aunt and myself. What a close to 2023!

Always stay in on NYE. It’s amatuer night and safer in the house. Full sports day in Boston, Patriots at 1:00, Bruins at 5:00 and Celtics at 7:00. A nice meal and a few beers and probably asleep in the chair before midnight!!

Thank you for all the polls. It’s brought an unexpected bright spot to my days since finding them.

We normally stay in on New Year’s Eve. It’s typically a night of finger foods, drinks, and whatever seasonal entertainment we can find on tv. If the kids are still up for it, we’ll probably have a shuffleboard tournament on the table in our bar area to award the house cup. I need to be up early tomorrow to take DD15 across town for a practice and need the energy afterwards to start taking down decorations, so we can’t get too crazy. I think we’re also a little blue. My parents flew in day after Christmas and flew home yesterday. They time it with air prices, but it would be nice to have them on one of the actual holidays.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year!!!

Going to a private party held by friends of ours at a local bar that’s walking distance. Looking forward to it. Btw here is a still from tiktok live that shows folks at the stroke of midnight in a district of Tokyo.IMG_2974.png

There are two days on the calendar that I find very depressing - My birthday and New Year's Eve. I try not to celebrate either one, so it’s just an ordinary day for me. I don’t enjoy marking the passing of time . . .

We don’t go out for New Year’s Eve anymore, we prefer a quiet night at home just the two of us. A nap is going to be needed this afternoon, and instead of my usual decaf afternoon coffee it will be regular. We plan to have nachos, chips and dip, shrimp cocktail, and bumpy cake. Looking forward to the Nashville New Year’s Eve special on TV. And something bubbly to ring in the New Year🥂.
Happy New Year, everyone 1704043226535.png

I feel the same way.

We are going to the football game this afternoon. We always have Chinese food for dinner which we will eat upon our return and then will watch the NYE shows on tv along with football.
We are watching from home!

It’s better than not being able to mark time passing and being dead. My mother in law is 89. She says to “live well because you are a long time deid.” Wise woman.

party:OK - change of plans! While I was napping, in advance of our big night out (until 10:00 pm - ha!) DH got a text from the hostess of tonight's party. We're pivoting venues because she is under the weather. Her DH will pack all the food over to the home of one of the other couples on the guest list. These friends never host - in 15 years I don't think I've ever been to their place. Looking forward to this little adventure!

We are having dinner at DD & DSIL's, but it will be an early night. We coordinated our Hello Fresh orders so we both ordered scallops with pasta and will cook it together. Easy way to share labor and expense.
Happy New Year to all!

A little work for me in a bit. Then home with DH to watch something.....he just tested positive for covid, so will just by laying low. Happy New Year everyone! Hoping it's a great one for all :).

I just got home to Rochester area from my brother's house (Lives near Hershey, PA). We drove down, left late Friday night and did 1/2 way then stayed at a hotel then finished the drive yesterday, got there at 1pm or so. Had a nice time at the party. We were all there, DH and I, My Dad, my nephew (my late sister's grown son), 2 brothers-the one having the party and his wife and 2 adult kids and my other brother, his wife was sick and couldn't come. We hadn't really all been together in YEARS. Even in July when my DH threw me a 50th b-day surprise party the niece and nephews weren't there. But the first time in even more years that we were all together 2x in one year. Stayed at a hotel in Hershey last night. We left at about noon today It's a long drive (4 1/2 hours) for down and back for a party but I had to take a chance to see the family.

Now we are just sitting at home watching "Biggest stories of the year" and if it stops raining we will go to the racetrack near our home and watch the fireworks at midnight.

I work tomorrow 3pm till 7am Tues morning
